Perhaps this is my fault.

Pat, Tom, you've missunderstood, I think.  Nothing has been set in stone, which
is why I asked for the replies to my original email.

No, Anthony, I didn't missunderstand!  My reply was to offer other
alternatives as well!

SNIP!

In fact, if
this sort of thing is going to prevent you from having a good time, I'd rather
you didn't show up.  I'd rather everyone who shows up to our meetings have a
great time.

Frankly, I have a good time just getting together with other AFOL's and
seeing what they have done and chatting about it!  I didn't get interested
in this group to show off my creations to the public and I have no interest
in putting on a show for anyone!  I prefer the small intimate get-togethers.
I'm not saying it's wrong to do a big show and I don't mean to step on
anyone's toes.  I'm just saying that's not what I'm interested in doing and
I don't have fun doing it!  So, I will certainly take your advice and not
show up if I think I'm not going to have a good time.  It's enough trouble
to me to just haul a few creations as it is.  I'm already losing interest
with the direction this whole thing has taken.

I want a repeat of NI.  It was such a great event, and it could have been so
much more with more advertisement and more TEXLUG member participation.  I
don't know about anyone else, but I thought it was an almost magical thing to
see all those kids seeing all of our work.  One father asked me to explain how
I made my griffon's joints so that his kids would know that building with LEGO
was not necessarily a linear thing.  We have so much to give the world, why
bottle it up?

And that's my two cents.

--Anthony
I appreciate your two cents!  I say, "go ahead and do what you want!  If I
can offer some support, then I will.  If not, then I won't!  Meanwhile, I'm
going to leave it up to you.  I'm taking a back seat and avoiding any more
input.  I know this won't be taken "the right way", but one of the reasons
I've gotten to where I avoid clubs and groups is because they've always
taken on the same political structure!  One to three people end up doing all
the work, making most of the decisions while everyone else does nothing but
show up when they feel like it.  I find it pretty disgusting.  Sorry, but
that's just me!  I hope you all put together a great meeting.  I have other
things I'd rather spend my time with than worrying with the planning and
decisions involved.  I offered my two cents and I'm through!
Best of luck to you!
regards,
Tom
