From the looks of it, we should definately try to get a minifest going in
the first couple of weekends in March for sure. So far I've seen Rick
Hallman (in Lansing) and Chris Leach host a fest. Other meets have been
even farther than Lansing. Any others I am not aware of. I wouldn't mind
hosting one, but so far the response has been nil on people wanting to cross
the border into Canada. For the the benefit of sanity for everyone else, we
should connect on the US side of the border. Scott's place is probably a
battle zone with the home biz and all, so I doubt he would want to host
anything right now. ;^) BUT of course, I would never presume to speak for
Scott, now!
We should really put our heads together to have a meet where the focus is
not just train (although I really do like the train meets). We could have a
mini competition/judging with small prizes for the most original MOC; we can
order pizza or somethinjg else that more enjoyable, and if the place has a
good TV and enterainment center we can play some cool sci-fi flick (that's
if we like sci fi - it's just an idea) to cap the night off. We can plan on
building a particular scene for a town, space base, train yard, etc, as part
of a group event, take snaps and post the pics. :^) We can sift through
spare parts bins and make offers for sale or trade. Finally, we can connect
in person with other people that have the same interest as ourselves - I
really got a fun charge every time I met up with fellows that last two times
I attended.
Sound like fun? I'm away the last weekend of February, but I'm open other
than that. Friday nights, Saturday days are the best for me. Every second
or third weekend I drive to Toronto, but I can work around it if we plan.
Thoughts?
