  Re: #define-ing stuff for Chibots

(...) I have, and it helps a lot. For instance, when comparing the raw light sensor values to some limit, I #define "<" to be "LIGHTER_THAN", for instance. That makes switching all those points very easy in the code, I need only change two #defines (...) (19 years ago, 3-Oct-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  #define-ing stuff for Chibots

(...) I'm not totally sure about this, but try playing around with #define In one language I use, the compiler will totally take out the variable, and put in the defined value, before compiling the program. I assume that's how it should work in C (...) (19 years ago, 3-Oct-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  LafLRC @ GTX

For those working on the train show GBC, here are the showtimes: Friday: 2:30-7:30pm Saturday: 7:30-10am (setup) 10am-4pm Sunday 10am-4pm 4pm-?(tear down) I think we'll be OK getting there Saturday morning, around 8 to set-up. Kerby will be there (...) (19 years ago, 3-Oct-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: Tic-Tac-Toe-bot

3T - good name... 32x32 plate for the game sounds exceptional...you could break it into 10x10 squares with a 1 stud width divider...no edge markers (would add a little to the challenge maybe) Size of the cube: Using odd size cubes (3x3, 5x5, 7x7) is (...)   Re: Schedule of events

(...) See, that's why you are so much more efficient than me at this stuff. I usually have *everything* at the planning stage... (...) Something GBCish (probably not new, but we'll see) Trellis (old line-follower; maze, basic & advanced(?) line (...) (19 years ago, 29-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: Tic-Tac-Toe-bot

(...) What about Othello? That requires the robot to be able to place AND reverse the pieces. Not sure if 8x8 would produce very interesting matches, maybe a smaller board? Even 4x4 may produce interesting strategies... ROSCO (19 years ago, 29-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: Tic-Tac-Toe-bot

(...) This would be a timed game. The winner would be the robot with the lowest average time-per-move. Actually, I was just thinking about it. Even that may not be a good comparison. I think robots should play each other twice, with each going first (...) (19 years ago, 29-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Schedule of events

I usually have several things in the planning stage. Here's what I have coming up in the next few months, and the robots I'll be taking: Oct 15-16 GTX train show with IndyLUG in Indy A small GBC Nov 13th - Chibots fall contest (www.chibots.org) A (...)   Re: Line Following Monster

(...) I have a Nitro Menace ((URL) that I bought because I want to turn it into something. I've been thinking about an RC car, but a line follower would be cool. I don't think it would be super-fast, and I'm not sure it would fit the Chibots rules, (...) (19 years ago, 29-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: Line Following Monster

(...) Correction - the rest of the gearing is 1:3 (I forgot about an 8:24 connection in the drive train)...though it could easily be changed to 1:1 with a couple of 16 tooth gears. :) (19 years ago, 29-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc, FTX)

  Re: Line Following Monster

(...) Pictures? you know how bad I am about pictures :) Power gets to the wheels through a drive shaft with 20 tooth gears at each end. Then there are gears that connect to the 24 tooth side of a differential. The front drive has ujoints that drive (...) (19 years ago, 29-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc, FTX)

  Re: Line Following Monster

(...) I am using the spoked motorcycle wheels from the Mindstorms kit (2 on the front and a "dualy" configuration on the rear...mostly for looks) The main drive is attached to the geared down output of the rc buggy motor - the only gearing down from (...)   Re: Line Following Monster

(...) That sounds *very* cool. Pictures? How do you get power to all four wheels (for instance, through the turntables)? And the linkage between the front wheels? Two or three differentials? Can you add suspension? Etc., etc... (...) Does this meet (...) (19 years ago, 29-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc, FTX)

  Re: Line Following Monster

(...) Cool. Which wheels are you using, and how is it geared? (how fast does it go?) (...) This sounds fun, if you can figure out how to make a line to follow, that runs over obstacles. Steve (19 years ago, 28-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Line Following Monster

So - I was bored over the last couple of weekends (I had a cold and couldn't go outside and enjoy the weather). I used my time wisely and now have a 4 wheel drive car that runs on 2 RC buggy motors (I mentioned this in a previous post). I also spent (...) (...) I've had the same thing hapen when I'm using LDCC--'Whys the train moving slow??' <beep beep!> 'Rats! Reload the firmware...' Dave K (19 years ago, 28-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: GBC Questions

(...) Not so far - both Steve & I have run numerous hours of GBC trains (engine plus a couple cars) from a 1.0 RCX. I only noticed two issues: (1) the output area of the RCX does get slightly warm, at least on mine, but never shut down due to (...) (19 years ago, 28-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: GBC Questions

(...) We haven't used a large loop. Well, the loop at BF was big, but it was also divided into two segments. Also, the trains are only a couple cars long. It doesn't draw that much current. Steve (19 years ago, 28-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)
