You can still use the speedometer.  Unless you got lots of wheel spin
there is a direct relationship between the tack and the speedometer.

In fact the speedometer is often attached to the drive shaft so even
wheel spin is removed.

(...) I made a little label on my computer for my old car when I was learning how to drive. I calculated out the r/min based on the gear ratios for my car's transmission as to when would be the best speed to shift into what gear at. Iain (21 years ago, 3-Nov-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
