Re: DAVE!! how was the 8880??

(...) I like to take my time with large (ie, 700+ piece sets) sets. I think I took two or three days to get through the SuperCar. I also like to ask a friend to come and help. (...) It's quite nice, but I think it sits too tall. If I could "lower" (...) (22 years ago, 17-Oct-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Arena...

So how flat is the floor in LHS? I have potential access to greenhouse 'screening' and if I grab a sheet of that, say 8 feet 8 inches square, and get 4 pieces of 1"x8"x8', and have the sheet attach to the outside walls of the 1x8's, then it's a very (...)   Re: talking RCX....

(...) Yeah sure, if my own hand can be counted as a LEGO piece... OTOH if we still have the 1/N rule, then a pure mechanical bot only need to stack two pieces to get infinite points. So do we still have that rule? (22 years ago, 17-Oct-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  My "Legends" building spree

Like Dave and Derek, I got my yellow-labelled box of happiness in the mail recently. Among other things, it contained my first Club Car and my first Metroliner. I built the club car Tuesday night, and the Metroliner last night. On Tuesday, I also (...) (22 years ago, 17-Oct-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: DAVE!! how was the 8880??

(...) I get home last night after work, cleared my 'puter desk, turned on the telly to 'Everyone Loves Raymond' and proceeded to open all the plastic bags into separate holders all over the desk...   DAVE!! how was the 8880??

well? you've kept us in suspense long enough. we all know how BAD enterprise was last night.... Come on, it was almost as bad as the 3 Vulcan's crash landing on earth story from 2 weeks ago... so i guess you have fully built the beast. Chris (22 years ago, 17-Oct-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: 45 Degree Crossing

(...) What if you backed each pair of switches off by one straight piece, then manufactured some crazy crossing out of say, metal stock glued to a piece of thin plastic? It wouldn't be pretty, but it would mean you wouldn't need to modify four (...) (22 years ago, 16-Oct-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  45 Degree Crossing

Well I was looking at the 45 degree crossing idea and I've discovered a bit of a problem. Its not just two straight tracks that have to be modified, but the four switchs as well. The problem is the switchs interfer with each other. The turn off (...) (22 years ago, 16-Oct-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: The portlands below altenburg

(...) Well, the way I see it is like this: We spent a lot of time wrangling with the track geometry, and the original "core" layout is as small as we can get, and still have the features we wanted, ie: two track levels, a perpendicular 2-level (...)
