(...) Yes we have high speed connections. I'm not sure the details, like I'm sure Calum would if he were here. Lots of Ts and Ones. It usually faster surfing here then on my Rogers connection at home. Derek (22 years ago, 29-Aug-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Ahhhh... New Road plates...

(...) My guess is they are re-issues. We will see once Lego gets the shop@home pages fixed. Derek (22 years ago, 29-Aug-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Ahhhh... New Road plates...

(...) Do you guys have a high speed connection at work? We have one like 28.8 modem shared by like 10 computers. And the phone lines in Ayr are tin cans and string. So the modulation isn't as good. Iain (22 years ago, 29-Aug-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Ahhhh... New Road plates...

(...) Yup. So the sequence is: 9 - 7 - 8 - 6 (studs on each side) If this trend goes on, in only a few years we can make freeways with 2 lanes on each side... :-) (...) Are they a re-issue, or old stock? Pedro (22 years ago, 29-Aug-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Ahhhh... New Road plates...

Forwarding this for exposure. I like these new road plates... The roads are black with a new design that makes them appear wider. (To bad NELUG already owns a couple hundred baseplates...) Note: You make have to cut and paste this link Eric K. (...) (22 years ago, 29-Aug-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, lugnet.town, lugnet.trains, lugnet.org.us.nelug)

  Re: Ahhhh... New Road plates...

(...) I'm not sure, it looks like there are only 6 studs between the road and the side of the plate. Doesn't the previous generation have 8? (...) This is very cool, I want one of those cranes. Derek (22 years ago, 29-Aug-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Ahhhh... New Road plates...

(...) I think they might be having problems at the moment. I just went to shop.lego.com and got the under construction error page. Tried again and it worked. Just try looking under themes Creator with Canada selected as your shipping country. (...) (22 years ago, 29-Aug-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Ahhhh... New Road plates...

(...) It looks like the same plates but with out the bike path on the side (hence wider roads) I also saw these two sets in the Whats New section on shop@home (URL) is here... I believe... (URL) appears to be a release of by FAVORITE motor bike.... (...) (22 years ago, 29-Aug-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Ahhhh... New Road plates...

(...) Why do these URL's never ever ever work for me?! :( They just go to a main page or sometimes when I paste them in they say I'm in a wrong country or something. All I got that time was a page with a list of creator sets... Iain (who is sick of (...) (22 years ago, 29-Aug-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Ahhhh... New Road plates...

I thought those were new road plates. I saw them a few days ago but couldn't remember if I'd seen them before. The strange thing is they are only shown with the Creator sets. If you look under City you'll see the older road plates. I need some T (...) (22 years ago, 29-Aug-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Imagine a "string tripod" holding a helium or hot-air balloon with the camera pointing down as the building falls away from you. Similarly. the ballon could be (...)   Re: robotics invite

(...) I really like the design of the firefighting contest. I think that is beyond my capabilities though. The robot art thing is probably more my speed. Ooo, I'm geting ideas already. Just call me Van Gogh. Or whoever. (no really, don't.) Iain (22 years ago, 29-Aug-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: robotics invite

(...) Hi Dan, Thanks for posting all of these dates. I'm going to try and come to the TSME meeting on Sept 13, and I am also going to enter a robot for the ECRG. For all the other rtl folk: check out the Eastern Canadian Robotics Games. (URL) looks (...) (22 years ago, 28-Aug-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Trebuchet Fun

(...) Well duh :) We had to kick it out enough that it would overcome the startup friction of draging the grape along the slide bed, as well as having enough tension to collapse the stiff sling-material to a point where it would clear the structure. (...) (22 years ago, 28-Aug-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Now THIS is a vending machine

Off-topic specifically, but still on the topic of vending machines: In union station, in the GO concourse, there is a CD/DVD vending machine. I was rather surprised by this. Also, I know of at least one interesting vending machine: at the museum of (...) (22 years ago, 28-Aug-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Trebuchet Fun

Manganel. I tried building one out of lego, using the bungee from the 8205 Bungee Blaster, but it didn't work very well. It might have worked better if i'd had a sling instead of just a cup, but that would have taken more time/energy than i was (...) (22 years ago, 28-Aug-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Trebuchet Fun

Calum i am now SO very sorry that I could not come out and join you for lobbing grapes. As a one off event to try in your back yard this looks like fun. BUT i want to warn people that as an RTLToronto event I don't want to see anyone get hurt. (...) (22 years ago, 28-Aug-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Trebuchet Fun

(...) <snip> Wow, looks like fun! A few comments to improve it, if you're interested: You'll want to start with the arm as close to inverted as possible; this gives a longer stretch of acceleration. You'll need to think about some means to change (...) (22 years ago, 28-Aug-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
