  Re: rtlToronto22 Ideas?

(...) It's already been done by another group: (URL) not sure how successful it was...Steve? Calum (18 years ago, 1-Aug-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: rtlToronto22 Ideas?

(...) The problem with tic-tac-toe is we'll have a day full of ties. Now I'd love to build a tic-talc-toe playing robot. I was thinking of doing this with an NXT and design it so kids could play against it. But as a contest I can't see it working. (...) (18 years ago, 1-Aug-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: rtlToronto22 Ideas?

How about autonomous tic-tac-toe, since this competition is scheduled to be a little more complex, maybe we could run a tic-tac-toe game. It should be easier then connect four, so more people should be able to build for it. Vitali (18 years ago, 1-Aug-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Melting (re: rtl21)

(...) I think that may have been John's match against my robot.... oops.... It was one of the last matches... If I recall, it was a real tug-of-war, with about equal traction. Your bot was geared pretty fast, mine used one R/C motor, and 1:15 (...) (18 years ago, 1-Aug-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  rtl21, some post game analysis

(URL) I decided yesterday to do some analysis on the number of "insufferable" throwdown posts versus actual performance. As you can see, the ratio of trashtalk to wins is about 1:1 for DaveK, and 2:1 for Chris. Winners like JohnG, Edward and Vitali (...) (18 years ago, 1-Aug-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, FTX)

Re: Official scores from rtl21--Chris didn't win... again!!!!

(...) Except in your run down of all the competitors, I didn't get disqualified and I beat you... Don't make me pull out some charts and graphs.... (...) Oh...now you've done it. (...) Part of the idea with not rerunning contests (at least simple (...) (18 years ago, 1-Aug-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Official scores from rtl21--Chris didn't win... again!!!!

(...) I PROTEST EVEN MORE!!!!! If this was a real game run by competent people, then the following would have happened: Chris - Disqualified for an over weight robot cause he used an inaccurate scale to weight his bot, and used that as an excuse to (...)   Re: Official scores from rtl21--Chris didn't win... again!!!!

(...) I see where this logic goes wrong... I assume you're suggesting Calum should do more of the work. (18 years ago, 1-Aug-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Official scores from rtl21--Chris didn't win... again!!!!

(...) I PROTEST!!!!! if this was a real game organized by competent people, then the following would have happened. John G - Disqualified for re-building his bot once he saw that other bots had a strategy to defeat his bot. Ed- Disqualified for (...) (18 years ago, 1-Aug-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Melting (re: rtl21)

Hmm, I didn't know you could melt a polarity switch. Hmm. Iain (18 years ago, 27-Jul-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: rtlToronto22 Ideas?

(...) That would be a really neat competition...especially the upturned car wrecks and all :) (...) Alas, I get you guys confused again. John's big on another RC racing, even if we keep the same "rules". Which we'll probably do. At dinner we talked (...) (18 years ago, 31-Jul-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, FTX)

  Re: Dave's tears - R21 the results

  Re: Dave's tears - R21 the results

(...) He scared me away. I thought about entering a robot in this competition, and even started one, but rtlToronto has crushed all my enthusiasm for Mindstorms robots. -Greg (18 years ago, 31-Jul-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: rtlToronto22 Ideas?

(...) So, if an outsider can ask a question-- have you guys ever done anything that's quasi "team" oriented? Like, with soccer, for instance, let's say that everyone builds player bots. Not necessarily limited to a position like "goalie" or (...) (18 years ago, 31-Jul-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: rtlToronto22 Ideas?

(...) I was actually thinking of a Trucktrial competition ((URL)) you can search for some more on brickshelf there are more pictures. The only difference is that we can use the RC setup, instead of the wired setup they have. (...) He is not my (...) (18 years ago, 31-Jul-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, FTX)

  Re: Dave's tears - R21 the results

(...) Alright, it's good he didn't scare you away. (...) On average it's about three or four months between events. Here's what's coming up: August 25th Brickfest DC November 3-5 Hobby Show (not really an rtlToronto thing, but) November 18-19 (...) (18 years ago, 31-Jul-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Dave's tears - R21 the results

(...) Hi there! Thanks! Even though I did not participate, it was really fun to watch. Now that I know Chris is just all about marketing, I'm much less afraid to participate in the next competition. Chris: who are you trying to fool? :-) Do you guys (...) (18 years ago, 31-Jul-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: rtlToronto22 Ideas?

(...) I wanted to toss out one more though. One of the more common restrictions for most RTL events is starting size for a robot. In some cases the challenges have been specifically designed to work against this (bridge building, rope climbing, even (...) (18 years ago, 31-Jul-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
