Reasons to L-CAD (was: Re: Am I the only person who finds Lego CAD systems infuriating?)

(...) d) illustrating building techniques (sorry, no example handy). With L-CAD models, you can more easily show your point by: - creating 'cutaway' models, showing only the parts involved in the technique being discussed. In some programs, you can (...)   Re: Am I the only person who finds Lego CAD systems infuriating?

(...) And documenting MOCs is a wonderful thing. Mladen Pejic is (unless there's someone I'm missing) is the only prolific builder who documents every creation in LDRaw format and makes the file freely available. I wish more builders would do this. (...) c) documenting a MOC you want to disassemble (eg: (URL) That is what I mainly use it for, although I have used it for a) as well. ROSCO (19 years ago, 31-Aug-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Am I the only person who finds Lego CAD systems infuriating?

(...) Phew. I was getting worried. On the topic of Lego CAD systems (not LDD, but LDraw and derivatives), I've never understood the point of them. About the only things I figured they were good for was a) making instructions and b) prototyping (...) (19 years ago, 31-Aug-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Am I the only person who finds Lego CAD systems infuriating?

(...) I understand why Lego Creator/LDD/whatever has a different interface, same as why I understand the Mindstorms interface is the way it is versus similar to a regular IDE like VisualStudio (eg BricXCC). When I see kids use the Mindstorms "block (...) (19 years ago, 31-Aug-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) Pretty fun. I just drew you an 'X' in the top left corner. It's like that other remote control robot I've seen with the claw where you pick up blocks. (19 years ago, 31-Aug-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Am I the only person who finds Lego CAD systems infuriating?

(...) Calum- I'm with you 100%. I complained to TLC when LEGO Creator came out that it was infuriatingly not useful. Why can't we select, copy, paste, shift+click, ctl+click, etc like most other PC and Mac graphics and CAD applications? Why do they (...) (19 years ago, 31-Aug-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Could someone PLEASE change the front page banner

(...) Probably the same thing we'd have to do to get a lugnet.factory (or lugnet.cad.ldd) group. If you discover what this magic is, please let me know. I think that there's currently nobody behind the wheel. (19 years ago, 30-Aug-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
