Hello Steve,

Here are a few options for technic beams:

Contact someone in Europe, to see if they could purchase and forward to you
the black technic beam packs.  Just because North America is out doesn't
mean other countries are.  Did you find out if they are just out of stock,
or discontinued?

DACTA has red and yellow beams in their current catalogue.  1x2 about 20,
1x4 8, 1x6, 1x8, 1x10, 1x12 and 1x16 4 each.

If you would settle for blue instead of black, then contact the two DACTA
dealers (Spectrum 1-800-668-0600 and Brault & Bouthillier, 700 Avenue
Beaumont,  Montreal, Quebec,  H3N 1V5, 514-273-9186,  800-361-0378) and see
if they have any of the discontinued parts packs  9823 blue, 9822 red or
9824 yellow.  If you can find an old DACTA catalog somewhere, maybe there
was a number for the black beam packs.  Last time I asked Spectrum, they
said they couldn't find anything, unless they had a part number first,
maybe they have some of the black ones laying around.

Goodluck.

Michel

Of course, I may not be able to make much of anything...

Not being able to get the most basic fundamental brick (for me)
has put a damper on all things LEGO as far as I'm concerned.
