OK.  I was just throwing ideas around. :)

As to the width, 61 inches would be impossible to reach from just one
side.  If there are derailings, we need to be able to fix the problem.  That
would suggest a center hole.

Well, presumably, a 61 inch span could be gotten at from either side... We
almost need a part of the layout being 61 deep if we want to have any depth
for more buildings.

Having the controllers outside is an interesting idea, when we had derails and
no one was manning the controls it took a mad dive into the middle to turn off
the power.  A kill switch on the outside would do for this problem.  I
wouldn't want the controllers to be jostled too much and fall to the ground.
As well they would have to be out of the reach of spectators, unless we limit
the maximum speed.

Good point.  I was just thinking about a couple of the other layouts there
that were outside operated - but come to think of it, those were all DCC,
which limits the options of pesky kids. ;)

I like the 'sloped' tables, staggered one third of a table going down.  It
would allow track at a different angle from the usual.

I really liked the look of that as well.  Gives us some variation, which is
all I've been aiming for with my weird table layouts. :)

As far as bridges are concerned, I don't want us to plan more than Steve or
John can supply.  But they sure are nice!

I've considered trying my hand at a trestle bridge... probably not something
we want over an open space, but if we do make/improvise a lowered area, it
could be cool.

Sorry I was so late in replying, it looks like others gave you the address for
the tables.  The old set of instructions was clearer than the current set.  I
could drop off a sample for you to examine while you were building more.  Do
we really want many more tables, I was hoping to replace most of my rolling
stock with MOCs, so I wouldn't have nearly the amount of material to show.

I wasn't thinking of more tables, so much as getting all the tables we have
ready... I seem to recall you saying that you didn't think the roundhouse
would be ready - I was offering to take on the other stuff that needed doing
(several legs, IIRC) so that you could free up time for the roundhouse.
