  Re: recovering lost files

(...) Chris, First of all STOP SAVING FILES TO YOUR HARD DRIVE...the data should still be present, as the file system in your OS just opens the AREA of the disk with the data on it to be overwritten, not actually wiping out the data itself.   recovering lost files

I was using what I thought was a great little program- CoffeeCup Free FTP when I encountered a little problem... I used the softwares 'delete this file' function on a directory that I discovered I didn't want deleted. I had thought that the program (...) (23 years ago, 19-Jun-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: E-mail authentication during posting

(...) I did write such a scripty, and I can email it to you if you want. What I did was just bind it to a key so I can auth a post without starting up a webbrowser. Let me know if you want the script. I do like the idea of the hash sig... or better (...) (23 years ago, 18-Jun-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Thanx Matt! All the info you've provided is great... But I'll just cut and paste directly from your post. My 2¢ --==Richard==-- (Richard, who's a bit slow but catches on eventually!) (...) (23 years ago, 19-Jun-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: E-mail authentication during posting

(...) Of course it could verify that I wrote the message. I could add a seemingly random hash function output to the signature of my messages, or to some arbitrary "X-" header. Finding the function that generated the "random" code would require (...) (23 years ago, 18-Jun-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: E-mail authentication during posting

(...) If you would have automated that process, that would make you vulenerable to identity theft. If someone would forge your ID the message will be accepted by a script that is not able to verify if you really wrote that message... -Frank (23 years ago, 18-Jun-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

How to make the ¢ sign (as in "My 2¢")

  Re: Some Lego buying stats

(...) Hi again, Selcuk (sorry I don't know how to type the proper "c"!), All of the answers to your question so far have been pretty representative of the middle class (and we are probably more highly educated on Lugnet than average), but I don't (...)   Re: How do I print a File Directory

(...) More ways: Hit the PrintScrn key and paste the image into your picture editor, cut out the crap and print. (makes perfect CD-covers w/o much work). Or to get rid of some of the DOS info from the dir > filename.txt tip, Open it in M$ Word, make (...) (23 years ago, 16-Jun-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Some Lego buying stats

(...) Well, I guess that I will add to this. I live in a different part of the country than Maggie, but I imagine that there is a general multiplier somewhere that you could use to adjust for different regions in the US.   Re: Some Lego buying stats

(...) Wow!.. A really big wow!.. When considering our income levels (me and my wife can only make around 15000 USD/year, both being engineers) it looks amazing. What I'm wondering is what kind of a living you could buy with 40-50000 USD/year. For (...) (23 years ago, 12-Jun-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
