    Geektalk. —Jasper Janssen
Well.. My 166MMX is finally obsolete. My Abit BH6 and matching Celeron 300a arrived yesterday. I had to up the Vcore to 2.10 before it would run stably at 450 :( What voltage did you need, Mike? Anyway... rc5 contest jumped from 216 kkeys/sec to (...) (25 years ago, 27-Feb-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Re: Geektalk--hold the video —Adam Yulish
(...) <snip> (...) Hold off on that video. After Metabyte's leak (see www.sharkyextreme.com) that they're finishing up work on a generic twin video card setup for April, video is either going to get a lot better, a lot cheaper, or both. TNT twin (...) (25 years ago, 27-Feb-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

(...) Looks good.. By the time I have more money for the next upgrade, I should be able to get TNT2 SLI AGP+PCI. Jasper "acronym shock" Janssen (25 years ago, 28-Feb-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

        Re: Geektalk. —Mike Stanley
(...) I ran mostly fine at 450 at 2.0 for several months, although I did have ocassional lockups. I tried it at 464 at 2.1 and it worked fine with ocassional lockups so I put it back to 450 at 2.1 and haven't had a lockup since. That's on my box. (...)         Re: Geektalk. —Jasper Janssen
(...) Tried 2.05? (...) Hmm.. At 2.0, I locked immediately, 2.05, got me a lock within an hour, and now at 2.1 *appears* to be running alright.. (...) I already have a G200, and no real need for video-in. Sorry. And to tell you the truth - I intend (...) (25 years ago, 27-Feb-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

        Re: Geektalk. —Mike Stanley
(...) Hrmmm, actually no. I will as soon as this massive ftp is done, though, and report back. :) (...) Cool. Anything 2.2 and below should be fine. Most people I know doing this (about 12 or so with probably twice as many machines) fall into the (...) (25 years ago, 27-Feb-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

        Re: Geektalk. —Jasper Janssen
(...) heh. At the moment, i don't seem to be able to start zMUD anymore. I'll have to see what happens if I set the thing back to 300, but I 'spect it's something else. (...) Do you happen to know a particularly demanding testsuite, that's easy to (...) (25 years ago, 27-Feb-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

         Re: Geektalk. —Mike Stanley
(...) Winbench, maybe. Although I figure playing Quake2 for a few hours is good too. (...) Somewhat cheap, but I just happen to have a ton of it. I'll probably bid on your 4558 but I'm sure I'll get beat. (...) I don't remember the exact process, (...) (25 years ago, 28-Feb-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

         Re: Geektalk. —Jasper Janssen
(...) Good point. (...) Well, the more the merrier. (...) Hmm yeah... same mods, for most of them, but some are simpler than others - I'm just surprised you can't yet get pre-modified boards from some vendors. It would not be any of the large (...)          Re: Geektalk. —Mike Stanley
(...) My coworker found a place offering to modify them for $20 each, or to sell them modified for $20, I'm not sure which. He just snorted and said Hell would freeze over before he'd pay someone $40 to solder two wires onto a board. Now I'd (...) (25 years ago, 28-Feb-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

         Re: Geektalk. —Jasper Janssen
(...) Any more than $10 is pushing it, IMHO. (...) The problem about modding the PSX is getting the 509 burned. That's a lot harder than actually soldering it in :) Jasper (25 years ago, 28-Feb-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

        Re: Geektalk. —Jasper Janssen
(...) I'm getting crashes. Winamp & Agent just locked, and zMUD did yesterday. Winamp & zMUD aren't particularly noteworthy for their stability, but Agent is. I've never had Agent crash before, and it crashed with a memory type of error. I think, (...) (25 years ago, 1-Mar-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

        Re: Geektalk. —Mike Stanley
(...) Hrmmm, I'd be willing to be money on the memory being the problem. I've never had a problem with memory but I've always made sure to buy name-brand (Micron, Samsung, NEC) PC100 CAS-2 memory. Costs a little more, but they've all been rock (...) (25 years ago, 2-Mar-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

(...) Mine is "Cube memory" 10 years mfrs guarantee... Should be reasonable quality. (...) Yeah, well, it's what I have. Back when I bought these, PC-100 _specs_ didn't exist yet, let alone that they were available. (...) heh :) Jasper "how fast can (...) (25 years ago, 2-Mar-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)
