The word "tremor" would look pretty stupid if it was spelt "termor",
likewise the word "tremendous" would looks equally stupid if spelt
"termendous"

Then again "termite" would look a whole lot better if it was spelt "tremite"
and "terminator" would look and sound more fearsome if spelt "treminator"

(...) Well, that's why centre looks stupid to us Ugly Americans. we pronounce it Cen-TER rather then Cen-TRAY... so the "tre" spelling doesn't look quite right to our eyes (25 years ago, 17-Nov-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)
