Dang. I was reading about this stuff, just the other week. Seems like it
all boiled down to this: if they announce the songs ahead of time, that
gives the listener the power to change the station if they aren't
interested. And announcements after-the-song are perceived as boring, also
causing people to change-the-station.
Not knowing the info on a song is frustrating, but it doesn't cause an
immediate change-the-station urge. Just the opposite--you hang around, in
case they bother to tell you what you want to know.
