  Re: Announcing Classic-Space Forums

(...) First, thanks for visiting. It's more than some others have admitted to doing. (...) Heh, humor. I love it. CSF's and yours. (...) This is very Andy Rooney-ish. But I should mention that rules aren't invalidated by humor. (...) This applies to (...) (20 years ago, 21-Dec-04, to lugnet.off-topic.fun, FTX)

  Re: Announcing Classic-Space Forums

(...) People really are carping a lot about all this, aren't they? It's starting to give me a haddock. If we big fish are left to flounder, however will we salmon the strength to continue? All this crabbing doesn't really kelp matters anyway. Give (...) (20 years ago, 21-Dec-04, to lugnet.off-topic.fun, FTX)

  Re: Announcing Classic-Space Forums

I'm not gonna bother refuting points in this one. One good point, I believe I'm going to change the word "rules" to "guidelines". They are just guidlines and it's totaly up to the mods to decide what violates those guidelines and what doesn't. The (...) (20 years ago, 21-Dec-04, to lugnet.off-topic.fun, FTX)

  Re: Announcing Classic-Space Forums

(...) All of these rules should be adhered without question. And just this once I shall explain to you the reasoning. "teh" is a commong term in most internet circles, It is also seen as "the" "t3h" and the little known "t3he". All of these refer to (...) (20 years ago, 21-Dec-04, to lugnet.off-topic.fun, FTX)

  Re: Announcing Classic-Space Forums

(...) No, actually, We've disabled registering for anyone under 13. The only exception we've made is for Nik, and that's with the consent of his dad, Lar. I don't know how you got that idea anyway. :/ (20 years ago, 20-Dec-04, to lugnet.off-topic.fun, FTX)

  Re: Announcing Classic-Space Forums

(...) Yes hello, I like putting my foot in my own mouth because I don't like other people. Yeah, sometimes they do stuff that only affects them or their friends, and I feel the need to step in and tell them they are fascist nazis and the have little (...)   Re: Announcing Classic-Space Forums

(...) Hey Tom, Thanks for posting this. The discussion has gone as I imagined it would. Perhaps others were even expecting this sort of post from me. I wouldn't want to dissappoint. Please excuse me if you find the following too prescriptive. Hey (...) (20 years ago, 20-Dec-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.off-topic.fun, FTX)

  Re: Announcing Classic-Space Forums

(...) Perhaps you are rather waiting for somebody to say, "You're right!"? (...) No, they're not. A forum with rational discussion is the intent with CSF, just like it is with lugnet.space. But when it doesn't happen, it's nice to be able steer it (...) (20 years ago, 20-Dec-04, to lugnet.off-topic.fun, FTX)

  Re: Announcing Classic-Space Forums

(...) I'm still waiting for that rationale... (...) Aren't the "whiners" and "complainers" just people you disagree with? I'm sure they don't see themselves as whiners and complainers. (...)   Re: Announcing Classic-Space Forums

(...) You caught us. That's the whole reason. Yup. (...) Just watch, see how often something will get moderated just because of disagreements. I can almost guarrantee that's not happening. On the other hand, being moderated, we don't have to put up (...) (20 years ago, 20-Dec-04, to lugnet.off-topic.fun, FTX)

  Re: Announcing Classic-Space Forums

(...) I still haven't heard a good rationale for moderated forums other than "I want to be the boss". A good bit of the support for moderated forums seems to come from moderators (or those who want to be moderators). Is it that difficult to listen (...)   Re: Announcing Classic-Space Forums

(...) Absolutely. The mods will rule with unjust elitism! But seriously, the mods we have are well suited at making their points clear. If honesty is a bad thing, then so be it. (...) Well, perhaps that's not the best way to word it. And, after (...) (20 years ago, 20-Dec-04, to lugnet.off-topic.fun, FTX)

  Re: What Makes A Collectible

Collecting is fun, not an investment. That is what it means to me. I collect many things from 3 3/4" G.I.Joe figures from the 80's to today, comic books, to Star Trek and Star Wars Hallmark ornaments. Being a toy collector, I have seen, "Limited (...) (...) Moderation is a tricky skill to get right, and done wrong is far worse than a self-moderated forum. Are you up to it? (...) The spacers are getting a bad rap? News to me.   Re: Announcing Classic-Space Forums

(...) The most important reason is because Lugnet has fallen behind, nothing has changed, it's time for a fresh start. Perhaps there's a lot going on in the background.   Wrong Number

Sorry everyone, in my long winded post I got the kit number wrong. I did mean 10152. But I have the flame retardent suit on now anyway, so I think I'm ok. Steven Weiser (20 years ago, 19-Dec-04, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)
