My take is simply this: nukes cannot be trusted to countries under the leadership of despots, dictators, and other illegitate rulers. Democracy is the key-- when people are free to determine their own destinies for their countries, and NOT under control by some insane, petty, self-serving tyrant, then these questions naturally work themselves out.

Put the power (nuclear or otherwise) in the hands of the people.

I see the (URL) talks got off to a happy start, demanding that the Iranians and North Koreans give up or do differently their nuclear programmes for peaceful power generation/weapons research/weapons production (as the case may be). Even as a (...) (19 years ago, 5-May-05, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)
