Does anyone else want to see this film as much as I do? I have seen a trailer
for this film which is supposed to depict the last hours of Jesus as he faced
his crucifixion. The plan has been for the film to be entirely in Aramaic and
Latin and without English subtitles! Gibson is supposedly relying entirely on
cinematographic styling to get the story across to people unversed in either
Aramaic or Latin. I dunno -- it just seems like such a ballsy approach to the
material. How can I resist?
Heres a link to what appears to be a lengthy discussion of the film on a
rabidly Xtian website:

Heres a less favorable cite, with a Jewish perspective:

Heres the trailer itself:

Art should make people think and reevaluate their opinions on things. I cant
claim the status of art for a movie I havent yet seen, of course, but I am
interested in seeing it. I think what intrigues me the most about it is the
seeming anti-commercial approach Gibson has adopted. Maybe, Im wrong and some
kind of crass commercialism will yet reveal itself. But Aramaic and Latin and no
English, not even subtitles -- cmon?!
Comments?
