That’s what I was going for. While we could debate the artistic merits of the explosion scene of the 2nd floor of the building in ‘Die Hard’(1), I was wondering what people would truly consider ‘art flick’ from Hollywood (a.k.a. America).

Dave K 1- my friend keeps his ‘top 10’ list of the best explosions in movies. The 2nd floor in “Die Hard” and the ESB in “Independence Day” are pretty much ranking up there.

There’s a topic--they make these wonderfully action packed, dazzling special effects movies and then they wimp out on the ending--“Demolition Man” was great with the explosions and such, but right at the very end when the building ‘gits blowed up real good’--looked like it was done by 1st year college film students. As well, “ID4”--spectacular effects then the mother ship blows up at the end--uugh! Piss poor job on effects there.

(...) Could you restate that please? Are you asking for a list of films that might possibly rise to the level of being called "art"? Does the list have to be composed of strictly american films for some reason? ??? FWIW, I don't actually subscribe (...) (21 years ago, 24-Oct-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)
