Looks like Mel caved after all...

As far as I can see, Mel by reason of his
wealth and status as a famous and acclaimed actor/director had the means to
maintain total "Kubrick-like" control in this situation.  Why did he cave?

It's not about "art" for him, it's about trying to recreate the event as
closely as humanly possible for whatever reason.  What a bummer that Jesus
wasn't crucified in the 20th century where the event could have been captured
on video for posterity!

"Tell me Christ how you feel tonight
Do you plan to put up a fight?

Do you feel that you've had the breaks?
What would you say were your big mistakes?

Do you think that you may retire?
Did you think you would get much higher?

How do you view your coming trial?
Have your men proved all worthwhile?

Come on God this is not like you
Let us know what you're gonna do

You know what your supporters feel
You'll escape in the final reel"

One more for the list....

If we are gonna quote J.C. Superstar, let's at least get the quote salient to
Hoppy's message.  :-)

You'd have managed better
If you'd had it planned
Now why'd you choose such a backward time
And such a strange land?

If you'd come today
You could have reached the whole nation
Israel in 4 BC had no mass communication

Yes, well, I was quoting the critics (the press and such).  You quoted Judas,
but perhaps his biggest critic of all.

No matter how powerful Mel's work is, I doubt it will top J.C. Superstar (for
me, at least)
