One thing I'm going to insert here, and has almost nothing to do with the
current discussion, is that the "Original Sin" belief does not exist in
Mormonism as it does in most other creationist religions.
We are taught that Adam transgressed, that he was predetermined to do so,
that he has repented, and that everyone has benefitted from the whole
ordeal. (1)
According to my religion, we reach the age of accountability at eight
years. Before that, our parents or guardians or whoever is responsibile for
our actions. After that, we are accountable for our own actions, but never
for those of our ancestors.

1. And he stuck with his wife through it all, which IMHO says a lot about
the guy. :-, BTW, if you're into reading a good story without too much
religious baggage, I would recommend reading _Eve's Diary_ and _Extracts
from Adam's Diary_ by Mark Twain. Both are available on About.com.
