Re: What age does buying lego become embarrassing?

(...) wouldn't (...) I'd like to hear more about the idea of true costs. What would be included in the true costs of automobile ownership? The cost of maintaining roads? The cost of pollution? -- Jeff <jthompson@esker.com> "Float on a river, forever (...) (24 years ago, 14-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, lugnet.general)

Re: What age does buying lego become embarrassing?

(...) Well, you're right. However I will say that I wish we hadn't gotten our Durango, it's a gashog, and I'd rather have spent the extra gas money on something else. Getting Josette to drive the Stratus (which get 35 mpg driven correctly) is a (...) (24 years ago, 14-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, lugnet.general)

Kevin, (...) purchases, (...) theirs. (...) make (...) your (...) Funny how with one sentence you say you should not worry about what other people think about purchases, and then in the next sentence, you are worried about other people's purchases. (...)   Re: Pokemon (was: Harry Potter Lego Line)

(...) The reason for different mosters in different version is pretty simple- you're supposed to buy one and trade (via the Link Cable) with other players. Pokemon was Nintendo's answer to the Tamagotchi trend. The advantage that Pokemon had was (...) (24 years ago, 14-Jul-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

(...) Whew! (...) The cartoon basically simulates cockfighting, which is an image that I would prefer not to idealize for the kids. Chris (24 years ago, 14-Jul-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Pokemon (was: Harry Potter Lego Line)

(...) Heh Atop my monitor: Gengar, Sandslash, and Lickitongue (who I joke looks as if he wants to grace the cover of the next Rolling Stones album). I'm hoping to win a bid on a Marril ("Pikablu") figure on Ebay at some point. :^) My gripe about the (...) (24 years ago, 14-Jul-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: smokers sueing tobacco producers

(...) I think if there is any merit to suits, it's by non smokers rather than smokers. Our national health costs more because smokers are passing their increased costs on to us, which isn't fair to us, of course. (However, one could argue that (...) (...) Make that 7, (either that or my son and the rest of his classmates are, on average, brighter than average, which is entirely possible, given where we live.) because that's when Nik started hugely enjoying the GB game. The card game is playable (...) (24 years ago, 14-Jul-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: wild west creations

(...) Indeed. John Brown would have brought down slavery at a much lower cost in human life, I think, had he been allowed to do so (and had he made some wiser choices about how to go about procuring arms). With the benefit of not having trampled (...) (24 years ago, 14-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: smokers sueing tobacco producers

(...) I don't think "faceless" has anything to do with it. These are just people who want to unload the responsibility for their actions in exchange for money. Cheers, - jsproat (24 years ago, 14-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  smokers sueing tobacco producers

Hi all, The big headline at cnn.com is about the Florida lawsuit against big tobacco. Can anyone justify this? I am among the folks who think that since everyone knows smoking is dangerous, so how can the producers be held accountable for the (...) (24 years ago, 14-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Pokemon (was: Harry Potter Lego Line)

(...) For what it's worth, you also don't have to be a Southerner to support the Confederacy. I, for instance, support the right of states to secede from the union. (...) He he! Good one! (...) Why? All quotes or just silly ones? :-) (I trimmed everything except debate from the followups, which I recommend to everyone involved in this to emulate) A good thought provoking quote is a good thing. I use the web interface now as well, but if I ever switch back to a news reader I'll have my sig pre-defined for every (...)
