Re: Last round of Target markdowns? —Adam Hoekwater
Okay, here's my proposal: What if one very trusting Lugnetter and one very honest Lugnetter get together for a lucrative deal? Let's say I buy a bunch of RIS 1.5's and Tie Fighter vs. Y-Wings at my local Target at 25-40% off. Then couldn't I just (...) (24 years ago, 20-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

(...) Hmm... I don't know if they have to honor that, much less the credit card legalities, I don't think the person who you sent the receipt to, could legally sign for the credit card, and they usually require the card and a drivers license as (...)       (...) <<tongue-in-cheek allusion to another thread>> I understand that TRU has a fairly laid-back return policy--maybe you could try them, instead! <<end of allusion>> Dave! (24 years ago, 20-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: Last round of Target markdowns? —Adam Hoekwater
(...) Granted it's been years since I worked the returns desk at Best Buy, but we never required the card or a picture I.D. of any kind back then.           Re: Last round of Target markdowns? —Scott Edward Sanburn
Adam, (...) A lot of stores are asking for ID now, depending on the store, they might need the credit card as well. Well, if it works, good luck! You worked at Best Buy too, huh? I worked there a couple months, I didn't like being a cashier there. (...) (24 years ago, 20-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

(...) Clearance items are not subject to price matching, as per Target management. This was explained to me by telephone from corporate. best, Lindsay (24 years ago, 21-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Clearance price-matching (was Re: Last round of Target markdowns?) —Raymond Flournoy
(...) About 5 or 6 years ago, I would regularly bring receipts back on clearance items which had gone down further to receive the cash difference. That is, if I had bought some of set XXX, and then I found a Target store with that same set marked (...) (24 years ago, 20-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

(...) Last time I tried this they said the point of clearances was to clear. They'd let me return the items and get what I paid back (40% off) but stated... you will have to wait 24 hours to rebuy at the lower price. I did not want to chance having (...)          Re: Clearance price-matching (was Re: Last round of Target markdowns?) —Adam Hoekwater
(...) I don't understand this logic. 'We don't want it anymore, so it's on clearance. But you can return it for the 40% off price and we'll give you all the money back. Then we WILL sell it again, but at a MUCH LOWER price, but NOT TO YOU, because (...) (24 years ago, 20-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

(...) I think it makes total sense (though it's not how I *wish* it worked.) The crux of the matter is that the return policy is for people who want to *return* something, not get the best price for it. If their policy was refund the difference then (...)        Hehe, GOOD LUCK. The Target I wiped out of 4561s this morning has had them for $78 for WEEKS while all of the other Targets dropped them. I called yesterday, mentioning that the Target not 10 miles from them had just dropped their price to $32.44, (...) (24 years ago, 20-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Woo Hoo! I just received an e-mail from my parents that they picked up two 4561s at Target for $32.44 each (to add to the two I paid $78 for when I was out there at Christmas). They will check one more Target today for more. My local Target hasn't (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

(...) Once again, Lar, you prove to be all wise. That is a great plan which I wish I had employed. My Target had at least 12 4561s sitting around yesterday for $77.xx.      You have to call FIRST THING in the morning. I just finished a 100 mile trip to go get some 4561s at $32.44 each - I called the second they opened, and hoped they'd still be there when I got there (luckily, they DID have some.
