  Factoring service

(Posted to many groups, but followups set to .market.theory) I have been meaning to write up my factoring service for some time now. Except for the fact that my email address (hehe) is nowhere to be found in it, I am happy with my writeup and I am (...)   Re: Questions on paying/receiving internationally

(...) I can see that it does make a difference if the SWIFT cost is 3% of the money involved instead of 30%. But still, I can think of other things I would like to spend 30 bucks on. At any rate, I pay $30 for wiring, regardless of amount, at one (...) (25 years ago, 13-Jun-99, to lugnet.market.shipping)

  Re: Questions on paying/receiving internationally

(...) It depends on the resources of the factoree and what they are comfortable with handling. I'm thinking 3-500 USD is where most of my factorees start to get uncomfortable. Email me with details, including the country you want to go to. This (...) (25 years ago, 12-Jun-99, to lugnet.market.shipping)

  Re: Questions on paying/receiving internationally

Lar, About your factoring service. Whats the max you will factor? I would pay in advance of course. I am not making this up... I really am serious. -- Have fun!   Re: Questions on paying/receiving internationally

I do offer a factoring service. For one-offs where you need a one time payment made, I charge 4 bucks, of which 2 goes to the factoree. It's slow but reliable. I have factorees in the UK, NO, NL, NZ, Australia and Germany. Payments can be made in (...) (25 years ago, 2-Jun-99, to lugnet.market.shipping)

  Questions on paying/receiving internationally

I'd prefer not sending cash, but it looks like International Money Order is the only option. Can anyone answer some questions for me? What is the cost in the US to cash in an IMO? What is the cost in foreign countries, such as UK and Germany? How (...) (25 years ago, 2-Jun-99, to lugnet.market.shipping)

Re: New option for USPS/correction priority packages

Pretty soon UPS and FedEx will either have to lower their prices to compete with USPS or come up with some better scheme... Carrie (...) (25 years ago, 29-Apr-99, to lugnet.market.shipping)

Re: Seeking the Ultimate Truths on International Shipping

(...) Yes I can see that that is rather unfair. I think I'd be pretty angry if I got charged that. I wonder if that flat charge is a purely Canadian thing or whether other countries do that. Simon (URL) (26 years ago, 22-Mar-99, to lugnet.market.shipping)

Re: Seeking the Ultimate Truths on International Shipping

(...) Actually, it's not the post office doing that, it's Customs - the P.O. doesn't see a cent of customs money. That $5.00 fee (which is also what cheeses me off) is the fee that Customs charges you to look at your package and decide how much tax (...) (26 years ago, 19-Mar-99, to lugnet.market.shipping)

New option for USPS priority packages

I mailed out some packages yesterday and the clerk told me about a new feature. For .35 you can have a tracking sticker attatched to your package. Is that a potential problem if you actually put stuff in a proper cardboard box, rather than just wrapping it in brown paper - as a cardboard box is more likely to look like it was from a company?   Re: Seeking the Ultimate Truths on International Shipping

Small Packets are generally limited to less than 2Kg. It is usually cheaper to send larger lots as separate 'small packets' each less than 2Kg. From the UK, above about 500g, the charge per 100g is linear. As for customs fees, mark it as a gift, and (...) (26 years ago, 15-Mar-99, to lugnet.market.shipping)
