It's true, your buyer does appreciate it.  *grin*  I've gotten boxes from
Canada before and the styrofoam peanuts are a wonderful thing.

I've also received a box wrapped in brown paper, and while the box did get a
bit munched, the lego boxes themselves tend to be quite sturdy.  I don't care
too much about the box as long as it has one.

Also, after noticing some people having problems with international posting,
it seems that what you put on the "contents" card might be important as well.
Someone suggested "plastic parts".

Thanks Larry and Simon for all your help in getting me my Space Shuttle.  :)

Assuming I do get it in an extra box, what are the best ways people have
found to keep Lego boxes safe and undamaged in bigger boxes?

And if I don't are there any good ways to wrap it up that protect the
Lego box from getting squelched en route? I'm guessing lots of newspaper
all wrapped in brown paper. Plus putting the lego box in a plastic bag to
stop any newsprint getting on it. Any better suggestions?

[snipping good ideas]

Thanks for asking about shipping, your buyer will appreciate it!

(...) Plastic bag for sure, and styrofoam peanuts instead of newspaper. They compress less so you can cram a bunch in and rigidise the packing, and they weigh less too. Go to a concern that gets stuff sent in and you no doubt can get some for free. (...) (26 years ago, 12-Mar-99, to lugnet.market.shipping)
