Well can you paraphrase it??? We can always use a good chuckle.

Key points were:
Set 10000 is identical to set 6067

[Which we know is not exactly correct.]

AND...

I make no attempt to suggest that this is the original set.

[in which case, he could have fooled me for the various ways he clearly
attempts to conceal the number of the set, AND the fact that the only number
mentioned is 6067!  What a jerk! I am not sure if it's the same auction, but
an identical auction by the same seller has 0 bids on it. Hehehe...]

So I wrote him this in response:
"You and I both know that you are trying to pull a fast one on lego fans
ignorant of the rerelease of the Guarded Inn.  My unsolicated and non-legal
advice to you is that you clearly mark the set being offered as set 10000.
There are very clear, if minor, differences in the manufacture of the
elements from the original set and the rereleased set, and someone that
becomes aware of these differences after you sold them this thing is not
going to be too happy with you.

"Amnesia" huh? [Editorial Note: the guy's email begins with the word
"amnesia."]  Is that like: "O, I forgot I'm a scumbag!"

Please, choose to do the right thing..."

But you were right Larry, Ebay did indeed tell me to cease my communications
with bidders on such auctions.  Of course, I am outraged by the fact that
they'd rather just get their share of the outcome than TRULY police the
garbage sold through their auctions -- but whatever.  I can add that bit to
an increasingly long list of why eBay sucks!  Geez, I am not exactly the
most ethically obsessed person in the world -- but eBay could certainly do
more than they currently do.  I am guessing that they don't actually care
what is sold at auction on their site as long as it does not generate bad
publicity or PR.

(...) Well, if you aren't particularly ethically obsessed, you can always setup a throw-away e-mail account at yahoo or hotmail, and use that instead of your "real" e-mail address. Nothing for eBay to threaten. James (Who would never ever advocate (...) (23 years ago, 26-Jul-01, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)
