Now hold up a sec!  Whilst I agree with Todd, berating Benjamin over
something he has no control over won't actually accomplish anything.

He has stated, previously, that he has no control over what the server
admins do on their machines, and I seriously doubt he'd give up a
high-paying job just because of restrictive practices stopping him from
properly threading replies through his work address.

I am quite sure, that Todd could make changes to the incoming message parser
that would enable Benjamin to post from work and appear properly threaded.
What those changes entail, however, I have no idea - it may simply be too
difficult or time-consuming for Todd to work on.

Of course, if Benjamin would tell us where to email concerns about his work
posting style becoming disruptive to the rest of the newsgroup, and that
something should be done about it, maybe that would help things somewhat.
Todd could complain to Benjamin's host network, although what good it would
do I don't know.

Larry, before you post something, do consider what situation the other
poster is in.  As I read it below, your post seems threatening to Benjamin -
should he suddenly decide not to post here any more, because of your post, I
would strongly suggest you rethink your strategy.  There is no reason for
Benjamin to be banned due to circumstances beyond his control.

If it were in jest, it was a mighty poor jest.  Benjamin's advice, from what
I've seen here, is both valuable and wanted and I will defend to the last
straw, if necessary, his right to post it here freely and through whatever
means available to him, regardless of how disruptive it may seem.

Cheers ...

Geoffrey Hyde

And Ben,
You need to fix or ditch that piece of junk newsreader/mailer that you're
using.  Every time you post you make a horrible mess of threading.  It's
very bad.  If it's the only newsreader/mailer that you can use from work,
then you shouldn't be posting from work -- post from home instead.

Hear Hear. I suggest Ben be banned from complaining about ANYTHING • directly
related to Lugnet (don't worry Ben, you can still whinge about how Aussies • pay
more for stuff and all that, lots left to whinge about...) until he uses • the
proper tools. Personally I find his thread breaking more annoying than
everything Lugnet related he's ever complained about put together.

Suggested in a jocular manner, but meant to be taken Seriously with a • capital
S.

Everyone makes mistakes but Ben, your posting mechanism is a non starter.

Change jobs if you have to. (get your priorities straight, man. Any • company
that doesn't provide proper tools for employees to use the net is broken • and
needs to be fixed or needs to lose good employees till it gets the point.)
