    Boxes and storage —Timothy Gould
Dear all, Can anyone tell me where in Manchester to buy plastic boxes, storage drawers etc., or which chain stores are good for that sort of thing. I simply cannot find anything and, as I don't drive, can't easily try place after place. Any help (...) (20 years ago, 1-Jan-05, to lugnet.loc.uk)

(...) Hi Tim, I can't think of any UK AFOLs who live in Manchester. I reckon your best bet will be to buy online from one of the DIY stores. A while back there was a good deal at Maplin on three tier plastic drawers on wheels. Be careful as storage (...) (20 years ago, 1-Jan-05, to lugnet.loc.uk)

Re: Boxes and storage —Timothy Gould
(...) Thanks Simon, I feared that would be the case (expensive). I've noticed that plastic stuff here costs at least twice as much as it did in Australia (where I'm from). Its also a lot harder to find. I have my fingers crossed that Britons will (...) (20 years ago, 2-Jan-05, to lugnet.loc.uk)

I get my storage drawers from Wilkinsons, don't know if you would class them as cheap though. Jase (...) (20 years ago, 2-Jan-05, to lugnet.loc.uk)

(...) Hello Timothy, I live in the North West (Northwich in Cheshire) which is about 25 miles from Manchester. I think there is another AFOL living closer still (Stockport?). Anyway, I recently saw some clear plastic storage boxes with dark solid (...) (20 years ago, 2-Jan-05, to lugnet.loc.uk)

Re: Boxes and storage —John Stormes
(...) Tim I use a mixture of clear plastic boxes and flat zag boxes, I've put a couple of pictures up, excuse the quality. (URL) Zag boxes come from B&Q and they have removeable trays inside so you can take out the ones you want, they are also (...) (20 years ago, 5-Jan-05, to lugnet.loc.uk)

Re: Boxes and storage —Timothy Gould
A picture tells a thousand words. Poundstretcher is one store I know is nearby. I've never seen boxes there before but those stores stock whatever is cheapest at that time so I should just keep checking back. Those zagboxes look really useful for (...)           Re: Boxes and storage —John Stormes
I've done some checking, Maplins do a similar box to the ZAG one, it's made by Raaco and is called service case 13 - they are £5.99 each. Look under tools on their website. Maplins have a store in Manchester at Fort Retail Park. The postcode is M8 (...) (20 years ago, 6-Jan-05, to lugnet.loc.uk)

Re: Boxes and storage —Timothy Gould
Thanks. I just checked out the Maplin website and they also have sets of 45 little drawers for 15 Pounds. Who would have thought that drawers and boxes would go under tools. When I did a search for 'box' on the site it returned none of these but (...) (20 years ago, 6-Jan-05, to lugnet.loc.uk)

Re: Boxes and storage —Tony Priestman
Hi Tim, What are you after? Crates, drawers or trays? The DIY places can be good for all of the above. Where about in Manchester are you? There are loads of places like the B&Q Warehouses which have good selections of plastic storage solutions. Tony (...) (20 years ago, 4-Jan-05, to lugnet.loc.uk)

Re: Boxes and storage —Timothy Gould
Firstly, thanks to everyone for answering. To answer the questions, I'm in the city centre of Manchester and after small drawers (preferably like these (URL)). I can get to anywhere near a train or bus line but would like to know what's there before (...) (20 years ago, 4-Jan-05, to lugnet.loc.uk, FTX)

Re: Boxes and storage —Tony Priestman
Hmm. I haven't seen anything like that for sale anywhere. The closest I've got is the ZAG/Stanley plastic drawers (available at B&Q), but they don't go up to very big sizes. I've just had a quick trawl, but couldn't find a picture anywhere. I agree (...) (20 years ago, 4-Jan-05, to lugnet.loc.uk)

Re: Boxes and storage —Timothy Gould
If I know what stores have good things I can always search for the most easily accessible one online. At least most of the websites are good at that :-). I think there is a B&Q within walking distance of me (might be mistaken). I might try that (...) (20 years ago, 5-Jan-05, to lugnet.loc.uk)

Re: Boxes and storage —James Stacey
If you have access to a Makro they have a very good deal on storage at the moment. Either that or as Tony says B&Q or Focus or the like. (20 years ago, 4-Jan-05, to lugnet.loc.uk)
