  Re: EuroFest Currency?

(...) If you're going to hold it in the UK, standardize on pounds. I don't think if you come to a country you can assume they'll accept your currency. Setting up shop near a Bank, Change-booth, or ATM may be a good idea, though ;) Jasper (25 years ago, 19-Dec-99, to lugnet.loc.eu)

Re: Cross posting in eu (was: Aaargh!)

(...) I'd rather not.. Translation software is kind of icky in general, and copyright issues I think would make automated translation a rather expensive proposition. At most a URL to babelfish or something like that. (...) Ah, but the French have (...) (25 years ago, 19-Dec-99, to lugnet.loc.eu, lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Two points for a European Legofest

(...) Speaking of which, I'm going to be (mostly) offline till the 6th of January - my girlfriend is coming over from Toronto and won't tolerate too much geekage :) So please feel free as usual to email me if you'd like to be added etc, but bear in (...)   Re: EuroFest Currency?

(...) Although it was an unintentional pun it still reminds me of a good point. Many of the buy-sell-trades at a LEGOFest involve a bit of cash changing hands - what currency could you do that in considering Euros don't exist in the UK and only (...) (25 years ago, 19-Dec-99, to lugnet.loc.eu)

Re: Cross posting in eu (was: Aaargh!)

(...) Maybe we should try to persuade Todd to integrate some translation software into this newsgroup. I've added lugnet.admin.general (...) Unfortunately I can only do English, the French of an 8 year old and very limited German, probably aged 3. (...) (25 years ago, 19-Dec-99, to lugnet.loc.eu, lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Two points for a European Legofest

From a UK perspective, Paris must be one of the best options - easily accessible by various means from the south of England where many AFOL's live, but also from the central belt of Scotland via the Ryanair flights from Prestwick (between 29 and 60 (...)   Re: Two points for a European Legofest

(...) Hi Ardjan, Your are good points. And these are the reasons for Richard is keeping a list of the possible attendees. When we'll have some more info about the number and location of the coming AFOLs, we'll be in a better position to decide where (...) (25 years ago, 19-Dec-99, to lugnet.loc.eu)

Two points for a European Legofest

Hi! I was thinking about the european Legofest. I think there are two things to check first: - Where are the european lugnet-active AFOLers living? How many do want to come? - Where is the geografical center (counted by travel-cost) of this group of (...) (25 years ago, 18-Dec-99, to lugnet.loc.eu)

Re: Cross posting in eu (was: Aaargh!)

(...) IMHO, I don't agree. I'd surely be quite upset finding a non-english (and non-italian of course :-) message in loc.eu I see cross-posting as a great advantage, but I can't see the advantage of writing in other languages in this NG... (...) you (...) Heh. (...) For what it's worth, it doesn't seem inappropriate to me to crosspost a message in Italian to .eu. Europe is a polyglot of languages, and I wouldn't be surprised to see posts in .eu in many different languages. (Not that (...) (25 years ago, 17-Dec-99, to lugnet.loc.eu, lugnet.loc.it)
