  Re: ROTW - (RipoffOTW)

(...) WOW ... US$ 185.00 equals about AU$ 313.50 ,very scary. You'd expect remote control podracers racing round your loungeroom for that price. On ebay they seem to go for approx. US$60+, which is similar to the AUS clearance price. Maybe some (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

RE: A possible way to get cheaper sets?

(...) Minimum amount vary. Generally sets with a RRP of up to about $8.95 come in multiples of 6, sets up to $15 (20?) [star wars sets really confuse things here.. they are up to $25]are generally in packs of 3, and larger ones are individual. (...) (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

  Re: ROTW - (RipoffOTW)

There's an independant toy seller near my house that has <set:7171 Mos Esps Podrace> for US$185.00. I've not seen any of their LEGO move since I've been checking. -Cheese (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

  Re: A recent Lego-oriented trip

(...) I just wish it was more interesting stuff, rather than multiples of recent editions (dreaming of Blacktron craft to land on my Blacktron plates and pirate ships to sail the local waters, the AF is a start though, thanks :^) ) (...) It was good (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: Where did you lot spring from?

(...) Mark, You should just monitor loc.au, since that's where a lot of our babbling occurs, if you monitor just the state groups you will probably be very lonely, I have seen you posting in Qld and WA and wondered why you hadn't spoken up in (...)   A recent Lego-oriented trip

As some of you know, I recently travelled by road from Melbourne to Sydney, taking in a string of toy stores along the south-eastern coast of Australia. Although I found a few interesting things along the way, they were almost all in Victoria, and (...) (25 years ago, 2-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: Where did you lot spring from?

We're alive and kicking on strong. Our goal to make Loc.au go ahead of Loc.Ca (Canada) has been achieved, and apparently we're the fourth most active country on Lugnet. Italy's next!! So watch out world! (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au.nsw.syd)

  Lego 2000 Football Sets

Here's an email I sent to some of the other ozzy Lugnet groups but didn't think to send to Sydney, maybe it's old news to some, maybe not. Hi Everyone, Ready for some bad news, Lego tells me that their sales manager who was recently elevated to (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au.nsw.syd)

Where did you lot spring from?

I haven't checked out Lugnet....Syd for months, I had lost hope that there was any reasonable lego presence in Australia. WA had a bit of life then died away and the rest seem to be a waste of time, so why have all the legomaniacs been drawn to (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au.nsw.syd)

  Re: Lego Roadshow

(...) I think they closed the brazil plant. (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: A possible way to get cheaper sets?

(...) Bravo! (...) Another question is are the store ordering procedures that flexable? Are there minimum numbers of sets to order? (I know the smaller ones come in trays of a certain number). Are there restictions on range or ratios of small:large (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: A possible way to get cheaper sets?

(...) Should be no skin off anyones nose. We place a large order with the toy store, pay up front and they pass the kits on. As long as the store realises we are not reselling in their catchment area, what could their problem possibly be. No nasty (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: A possible way to get cheaper sets?

Ok combine all these ideas together: How about starting up a non-affiliated service such as Australian Construction Bricks On-line (etc..) We could run mail order and internet orders and all we'd need is minimal storage space. Hang on, does this (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: A possible way to get cheaper sets?

Whytcross, Benjamin wrote (...) still (...) I'll give this a try. Richard Still baldly going... Check out Port Block at (URL) and streaking away. What do we do now? Hunt down the Italians? ;-) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

RE: A possible way to get cheaper sets?

There is one way around this...Could we start our own 'toy store'? I think we'd have better lucky with this approach. Unfortunately, I don't know what this would involve cost-wise, although I think LA requires you have a $6000 balance with them :( (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: A possible way to get cheaper sets?

(...) intact (...) Thanks Lindsay, I'm sure we would love access to some of the LSAH stuff, especially service packs etc. The new Adventurers sounds interesting too. We probably wanted to ask this before, but thought it would put people out. (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: A possible way to get cheaper sets?

(...) James Howse has already established that LA are not interested in retail sales, and unfortunately they'd classify us as retail, no matter how formalised we became. I think this proposal is a dead horse. I'm still going to work on the LEGO room (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: Grey baseplates (was Re: sales status 26/04/2000)

(...) Thanks, Ben, but I picked up a couple last weekend for $14.35 each at GB's. Unfortunately they wouldn't pricematch with BigW *then* discount, but it was worth a try! Posting them would be interesting, I'd like to see the look on their face at (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: A possible way to get cheaper sets?

(...) Well, you also have a lot of Oz-friendly folks across various oceans who might be willing to help obtain certain items and keep the Balance of Lego Flow intact across the Pacific. ;) I could certainly do a little bit of boxing and shipping at (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: A possible way to get cheaper sets?

(...) Our NSW group keep talking about this. It's worth a formal approach I think, and our patronage deserves special privileges surely :^o I'm certainly willing to run it/get it started, but we will need to formalise the group a bit more (...ick). (...) (25 years ago, 1-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)
