THAT'S what I (and I suspect others) are driving at when we ask people to • be
nice here... If we want LD to use this channel we have to keep it clear and
keep it friendly. Or at least professional. They may well (being human)
decide to ignore a channel that they desperately ought to listen to, if • it's
too poisoned with vitriol/venom.

I agree. But for a while the only posts they responded to were rather rudely
phrased. The posts that politely asked a question were ignored. LD needs to
demonstrate that they will answer questions.

Well put.

Which I believe they are now trying to do.

Quote from Brad Justus' original post;

"...We want to be the company
you’d like us to be. And to do that, we need your input. What do you love?
What do you hate? How can  we help you? Tell us – we want your input. We
know
you’ve got a lot to say .."

So I think giving constructive criticism on something is warranted. Maybe LD
needs to update what kind of interface they want in this newsgroup.

Yes to both.

That last point is critical. We need crispness. The increased response is
great but is it temporary? Setting some clear expectations, and maybe
further sorting stuff into different channels by what it is (a bug report, a
legal issue, a suggestion, a customer service issue that we observed happen
to someone else or whatever) might be useful too.

Tom McD's idea of a trouble ticket system is still valid. There's got to be
some low effort clever way of doing that without reinventing the wheel.
(heck, I wish LUGNET(tm) had a trouble ticket system of its own so you could
check status on stuff, but it's probably not worth the development effort
from a standing start).
