Indeed.
OK, thanks for the clarification. I agree, mostly (of course). But, and this
may be straining at gnats and swallowing camels, and it may well be second
order effects rather than direct, while LEGO Direct, not being a person,
can't dislike or like anything, I do think it's important to be civil, to
remember that there are people at the other end, and to keep reality in mind.
Screaming "I want something, I want it now, it better be almost free, and
you guys are a bunch of clueless idiots over there at LD" is a lot less
likely to get results (due to human nature, no one enjoys being screamed at!
It may actually be their job to suck it up but they aren't going to like it.
And people who like their work do better work. Also we are not their primary
customer base. Just important and influential beyond our numbers and
purchasing volume...) than thinking about why it would be a good idea to do
something, then putting together a well written, polite business case and
posting it.
THAT'S what I (and I suspect others) are driving at when we ask people to be
nice here... If we want LD to use this channel we have to keep it clear and
keep it friendly. Or at least professional. They may well (being human)
decide to ignore a channel that they desperately ought to listen to, if it's
too poisoned with vitriol/venom. Silly them. But no one's perfect, no one
has the patience of a saint, etc. Who here has never cut their nose off to
spite their face? I know I have, and I'm (almost?) perfect. So I imagine
everyone else has too and can sympathise with the LDers who were putting up
with a lot of gafla there for a while. (meanwhile we were putting up with
long silences, also not a lot of fun)
I think you're saying that too, right? ...so I'm done.
