Whoops, I set my followups and crossposts wrong.  Anyways, I glossed over that
Erik mentioned Brickfest, good idea.  We'll have to wait for brickfest plans...
(FYI that's in Washington DC)

Tom suggested IRC/ICQ, and that came up last night at dinner too between
Leonardo and I.  We will think of doing that in the future too, but a great
thing would be voice-over-IP communcations online, we can find a good free one
to use.  Reccommendations?

But, having been said - lets get the ball rolling for ideas on a 1st annual
LDraw.org conference, somewhere central, date, etc.

Tim said something about "how those not present must feel..."

I think it would be super if LDRAW people organized *own* summit. Just to
talk amongst ourselves. Also show programs and eat. Maybe a sub-conference
of Brickfest.

I had an idea yesterday. There is this device called a telephone. Maybe
LDRAW techies could use it to overcome separation by distance.

Anyway I think we should have a LDRAW conference. 1st annual.

follow-up to some other group?

Actually...Steve and I thought about that before but never really talked more
about it.  Good idea.

Phone is another good thing, perhaps even Voice over IP - anyone have good
experience with this, I have experience but the service I use is kinda iffy.

Location for an LDraw conference?  We're spread out in Europe and North/South
America from what I know... and it would be difficult.  New York or Chicago • are
central.  NYC in the summertime?

(...) I think this is a great question.... it gets to the heart of why companies share preannounced info with the general public (or rabid fans, or some spectrum of in between). My comments are more about the train summit but I suspect Steve or Tim (...) (24 years ago, 12-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.general, lugnet.lego.direct)
