Which one? If you say "LDraw" I swear I am gonna give Tim Courtney 100
lashes with a wet noodle next time I see him. www.ldraw.org puts WAY too
much emphasis on ldraw itself which is arcane, hard to use, and well,
antiquated. Oh, and did I mention hard to use? That should get me some flamage.

Way too user-unfriendly, IMHO, so I didn't bother to check out what seemed to
be the bit players.

They're all "bit players", er that is, bit twiddlers. <GD &R>

Seriously I don't know that any sort of market survey has been taken but I
think MLCad has a lot of adherents. It's pretty well supported by the
author. Feature rich, graphical, easy to use (except for the helps which are
broken, unfortunately) and fast.

If it ever came down to it, I would probably go Gianluca Morelli's
route first.

What was that, I think I missed it?

I set FUT lugnet.cad as I am sure CAD authors want to hear your experiences
and what criteria led you to pick the one you picked, etc. And I'm SURE Tim
and the rest of the ldraw.org maintainers want to make sure that there's not
a bias to ldraw that drives novices away.
