Slopes and inverse slopes aren't "basic" bricks, though ;-) I consider them essential, especially corner slopes and INVERSE corner slopes (too dang hard to get in sets these days). With the ability to purchase many of a single element directly from TLG in the not-to-distant future, I had the idea of developing an on-line database to track demand for an individual element. I bet if we made a fuss, we could get any element in any color, ie bright green bricks, clear arches, trans red plates... I havent been able to think of anything but this since I heard the news.
