  Re: Naming conventions

(...) That would be fine too... IF it was one rather than many, and IF it was shared with us. ++Lar (24 years ago, 22-Jun-00, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: Does anybody actually know Mr Justus?

In that case, those weird shaped roof pieces are exactly what TLG need to consider including in the next LEGO Direct update. Also, I would consider adding a test of sorts if I were TLG, and have inward and outward sloping low corner bricks made up (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jun-00, to lugnet.lego.direct)

  Re: train windows

(...) You hit the nail on the head, they are almost certainly not making the train glass for the window. (24 years ago, 22-Jun-00, to lugnet.lego.direct)

  Re: train windows

(...) What about if we restrict the sample to "8 year old kids who would order from Lego Direct"? I bet MOST of those would notice. (24 years ago, 21-Jun-00, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: Does anybody actually know Mr Justus?

(...) I dunno, as kids my sister and cousin and I used to use all the (red) weird shaped roof pieces to make complicated roofs with right angles, L's and dormers. Nowadays though, kids might not since the required weird shapes are less common. Kevin (24 years ago, 21-Jun-00, to lugnet.lego.direct)

(...) They could have short-circuited the production process to skip the painting of the thin-walls. (...) Quite a (...) instead (...) I'm not sure what happened there. Maybe they goofed before this and bulk ordering was a way to unload the doors. (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jun-00, to lugnet.lego.direct)

  Re: train windows

(...) Except for one problem - has there EVER been a set with plain clear 1x4x3 thinwalls? No printing at all? What about a set with red-framed, GREEN-paned doors? I don't know of one. Quite a goofup if the accidently cast red frames instead of (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jun-00, to lugnet.lego.direct)

  Re: Naming conventions

(...) Hey, that'd be great... if they provide pictures to go along with the part names, like Partsref. In the meantime, Partsref seems to me to be the most useful thing out there to make sure we're all talking about the same part. Lego can call (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jun-00, to lugnet.lego.direct)

  Re: Naming conventions

(...) Do they have an internal naming convention? Is it in english or danish? Why are the thin walls train windows according to them? They were used in a lot of places. I doubt they have anything that formal. If they do, I'd certainly like to hear (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jun-00, to lugnet.lego.direct)

  Re: Naming conventions

(...) As opposed to the naming conventions that LEGO has used internally for years? How about, instead of suggesting that LEGO change the way they refer to parts, why not ask them to share *their* naming conventions with the AFOL community? JohnG, (...) (...) here (...) And (...) Good point. Only the serious would want those quantities. (...) It wasn't really meant to be a sound line of reasoning. I'm just being annoying. However silly it is, while viewing the big picture, to call it a train (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jun-00, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: Got my other order wrong (Re: Got my order wrong)

This is particularly worrisom also. I know I'm right because their website advertises 172 pieces, which is the count on the outside of the larger box. But when I call, I worry that they'll think I'm trying to pull a fast one. The sales rep I talked (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jun-00, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: Does anybody actually know Mr Justus?

(...) OK, go ahead. Everyone knows I'm arrogant anyway. Personally I think it would be shrewd of them to target the market exclusively to AFOLs with mundanes as a secondary interest. We're the heavy users (1) who are going to buy bunches (is there (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jun-00, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: Got my other order wrong (Re: Got my order wrong)

I just got my order for 2 sets, and found 2 small plain white boxes. opened one of them and thought it didn't look like 172 pieces. I was impressed on how quick they got my order to me. 3 days, standard shipping. they did upgrade to priority mail at (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jun-00, to lugnet.lego.direct)

  Re: train windows

(...) Not all of them. I know, at 8, I would have noticed as you probably would have also. And my six year old daughter would probably notice also. But my eight year old daughter would probably be oblivious. (...) I think it's much less sinister (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jun-00, to lugnet.lego.direct)

In lugnet.lego.direct, Tom McDonald writes: <snip> (...) A dangerous attitude if they don't get the picture right. :-) (...) I bet, in the end, the names will be dropped. We have a naming convention that works well... in english. I'd hate to have to (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jun-00, to lugnet.lego.direct)

(...) ok, now you guys got me paranoid, checked my order, mine was fine... i even opened the brown dacta box to make sure i wasn't missing something :) oooo.... road signs.... :) (24 years ago, 21-Jun-00, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: Does anybody actually know Mr Justus?

(...) How about a McDonalds drive-thru window. Or a metro station train schedule! :-) brian (24 years ago, 21-Jun-00, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: Got my other order wrong (Re: Got my order wrong)

THANK YOU for saying something! I got my eToys order last week, and didn't even open it - I ordered 3 sets of roadsigns. Sure enough, there were 3 white sub-boxes in the order, so I only got ONE QUARTER of what I should have! I called, complained, (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jun-00, to lugnet.lego.direct)

(...) Even a child would notice that the piece on the order form is not what he got. (...) They know exactly what a train window is. I bet there is a very good reason(s) why they offered transparent thin walls instead. A couple possibilities come to (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jun-00, to lugnet.lego.direct)
