2. Building Instruction Images (BII):
Images, either real or electronic form, that show a series of steps on how
to build a LEGO set. Usually the images are numbered or given a numerical
increamental filename so that a users can put them in chronological order.
(Ex. The output created by LPub)

How about something like:
Building Instruction Images are images (either real photographs or computer
generated illustrations) that generally show a single step or combination of
sub-steps required to build a LEGO model or set. These images can then be
numbered and sequenced into a logical progression which will result in a
complete set of Building Instructions.
But while youre at it, why not eliminate any confusion right off the hop.
If your goal is to define terms that will help your readers, then do them the
favor of making things crystal clear.
Why not call #2 something like:
Step Images
or
Construction Images
or just about anything that doesnt sound like Building Instructions.
|
I agree that having #2 sound like #1, it adds a lot of confusion. Allans
suggestions are good ones.
|
|
3. Basic Building Instructions (BBI):
A series of images placed within a defined set of boundries have a uniform
look. The defined boundries usually provide a visual framework to enclose
the BIIs.
|
This is where a very clear visual example would help. I honestly cant
understand the legal-style definition youve used here.
|
(Ex. LEGO BIs provided in LEGO sets)
|
Isnt that just what Building Instructions are? Isnt #3 really just #1?
|
Thats my read on it too. There is no difference in my mind between the two,
especially with the explanation in reply to my post.
|
Please do us, your readers, a favor. Whenever possible, do not use the
acronym forms of the terms you are attempting to define above. Make this
information as user-friendly as possible and try to get away from the
business/computer trend of burdening perfectly good sentences with perfectly
awful acronyms.
|
I agree.
|
|
In the process of getting my notes together I have noticed that the term BI
is to broad and needed to form additional terms to cover/narrow down what I
will be talking about.
|
Agreed. But again, the key to this is that you ensure you dont further
complicate things by creating terms that arent required.
|
Yep.
