Yes, and when he found out it appears he made those internal calls and relayed the information to us. The point I’m making is that I don’t see why Lego PD would have to call up Jake to inform him every time a product change is made or proposed. He doesn’t appear to occupy that sort of position at Lego. But I don’t have to speak up for Jake’s actions, because he can do that for himself. Again it’s all relative. To you and me it is significant - but for most of their customers I really can’t see this being an issue.

Even by LEGO’s estimates AFOLs are 5% of their clientel. That ads up to a whole bunch more than the couple hundred that are active on Lugnet.

5% of customers, or 5% of revenue? And how many of those disappointed AFOLs are actually going to quit the hobby or boycott Lego over this?

Again I think that’s somewhat relative. A firestorm on Lugnet is an ember in the global market.

Again Jake could speak for himself and give calm to the storm but he isn’t. His existance is to be a community link to corporate LEGO and the link seems AWOL. He had time to put out a tiny fire at ILTCO yesterday while the lug net FIRESTORM continues.

5% is 5% however you want to cut it. CEO’s are made & broke on less than 5%.

Acorrding to the survay on Lugnet a permanant change could cause signifigant damage. Many dollers will be tuned away from new sets in search of 2nd hand old brick. LEGO will be able to see this on their bottom line. What the collectors (Who make up the majority of those who don’t seem to care) don’t realize is that a signifigant hit in the builder’s community will negate any reason the LEGO group has to cater to AFOLs.

You seem to have a quite limited view. This is only Lugnet the rest of the “global market” is no diffrent and most of them dont stop here. You can bet the same discussions are happening on German boards, some of the finest true grey castle MOC’s come from Japan... I could go on.-Ken

(...) In Jake's defense ... I sent him an unrelated email today, and immediately received an out of office auto-reply. He's out of town until Monday, with limited email access. So, I assume this also means limited internet access. He does have other (...) (21 years ago, 21-Nov-03, to lugnet.general, FTX)

(...) What could Jake say that would "calm the storm"? I really doubt, beyond saying that the colors will stay the same, anything he says will make a difference to the people that are upset at this point. jt (21 years ago, 21-Nov-03, to lugnet.general, FTX)
