This initial posting is to set up a framework & timescale for
discussions aimed towards the formation of a formal club for LEGO fans
in (& possibly around) the United Kingdom.
THE PROPOSAL
1. It is proposed that there will be an initial period during which
comments & suggestions are invited. Initially, these will be posted to
lugnet.loc.uk, preferably in reply to this post.
2. Additionally, as soon as possible during this initial period, two or
three volunteers will be requested to act as a steering committee for
the remainder of the set-up period.
3. Once the steering committee has been established, it will accept
comments by email. The name of the author of an email submission will
not be publicly revealed beyond the steering committee without that
author's express permission.
4. At the end of the initial period, the steering committee will collate
and organise the comments which have been received. These will be
ordered into a series of draft motions to be voted on at an initial
meeting of the club. This will include a proposal for the method of
voting.
5. The draft list of motions and proposed voting method will be
published, and further comments requested.
6. The motions and method of voting will be revised and formally
published prior to the initial meeting of the club.
7. The initial meeting of the club will vote upon the motions put before
it, and thus define the constitution of the club.
8. Part of the constitution will define the positions of responsibility
within the club, and the length of time for which they will be held by
an individual.
9.Once the constitution has been formalised, the meeting will elect the
holders of the above mentioned positions, and the club will come into
existence.
THE TIMINGS
10. To allow for holidays, etc, the initial period of comments &
suggestions will last from the time of this posting until Saturday 29
June 2002.
11. The volunteers to form the steering committee will be required by
Saturday 15 June 2002.
12. The collation of comments & suggestions, and the formulation of
draft motions will be completed and published by the end of Sunday 14
July 2002.
13. Further comments will be accepted until Friday 26 July 2002.
14. The revised list of motions will be formally published on Saturday 3
August 2002.
15. The initial meeting will take place on Sunday 11 August 2002.
