So it looks as if this is a set of 1936 1x1 plates, 44 2x4 slope bricks in some
colour, 4 2x2 corner slopes in the same color, an 8-piece hangar (unspecified)
and a single 48x48 baseplate.
It comes with 5 colours of plate: Black, Dark Gray, Gray, Light Gray (!) and
White.
At 1.5 cents a piece, this actually seems pretty reasonable. I could seriously
see ordering a few mosaics in solid stripes just to get lots of each plate.
I've fantasized for a while now being able to tile my castle floors... here
comes reality!
Aside from using it as a source of plates, the image thing is pretty darned
neat - if you pre-produce multiple image files, you could order a large mosaic
in n x m plates of size, and get whatever resolution you desire.
Finally, I think this is a fantastic example of on-demand customization and
delivery - this is one of the things that the information age was supposed to
deliver...
Kudos to Lego. May the folks who came up with this and put it into production
prosper and gain sway at TLC.
I'm going to go vote with my pocketbook now. The only question is: How many to
order...
