I'd disagree.. once you factor in shipping, population and other economic
factors Toronto would be more likely to have a center. Toronto has a few
festive malls.. most notibly the Eaton Center on Young and Dundas.. expansion
is crazy there of late.. a 30 screen AMC is going up across from the Eaton
Center and Toys r Us opened up a neat multi-floor store there also. Vaughan is
also the site of a massive mall construction project which a Mall roughly on
the scale of West Edmonton being constructed.. however that project has been
stop and go over environmental issues.
I'd say Vancouver and Toronto would be in the limelight for a store.
The west edmonton mall is helpful.. but I worked at an Radio Shack [ugg..
first and last "service" job] there many moons ago [1989-1990] and during the
mall association meetings with management the WEM was hurting from the
recession.. many shops were closing up and if it wasn't for the lease policy
change at the time the mall would be 1/4 empty that holiday season.. [they had
to turn around and base the lease off the the income of the store provided
they were breaking even]. I imagine things are better now economically
speaking at the Mall.
Man I missed making daily walks over to the Mall and checking out the two
massive video arcades playing the classics =).

Kurt
