Rules Talk: JumpShip Ideas —John P. Henderson
Galactic Greetings! After a couple of emails between Richard and me, I thought I would bring this forward for the group...         Re: Rules Talk: JumpShip Ideas —Lindsay Frederick Braun
(...) <remainder snipped> JumpShip? Hmmm...am I detecting the influence of the venerable GDW "Traveller" (the original one) here? :) I must find my copy of "High Guard." It's been too long. Hopefully one day I'll be able to take part in all of the (...) (21 years ago, 28-May-03, to lugnet.gaming.starship)

Re: Rules Talk: JumpShip Ideas —John P. Henderson
(...) (grins) It stems from our use of the term JumpGates. I honestly do not recall which of the participants first provided that particular term here in Starship, although surely it has been used in other Sci Fi before. But early during game (...)         Re: Rules Talk: JumpShip Ideas —Dan Mattia
First of all: Oh my God! What happened to the text?! It's all...weird. Anyway... Very good explanation. It works very well. My ships have a modified form of this jumpdrive, but I don't use it in Starship. It's how I get across the galaxy in 5 (...) (21 years ago, 28-May-03, to lugnet.gaming.starship, FTX)

Re: Rules Talk: JumpShip Ideas —John P. Henderson
(...) Well, technically, his engineers are looking at your ship's upgrade from Spraw, and if he negotiates with you to do so, he will take the plans and try to duplicate the engines. He is considering, for game-play fun, saying that they can't (...) (21 years ago, 28-May-03, to lugnet.gaming.starship, FTX)

Re: Commercial Talk: Jump Engines —Richard Parsons
(...) Of course, of course. No sense bothering the Grand Galactic Generale with lowly commercial matters now is there? As agreed, if we end up thinking to apply this outside Port Block Yards Fleet Tenders, we'll start talking royalties ;-) Richard (...) (21 years ago, 28-May-03, to lugnet.gaming.starship, FTX)

Re: Rules Talk: JumpShip Ideas —Lindsay Frederick Braun
Hi! If I may interject, as someone who's mulling over joining up (unless my lack of any actual Brick at the moment is an intent-killer) and has read the rules as a fresh outsider: (...)            Re: Rules Talk: JumpShip Ideas —Richard Parsons
(...) Heck no! Get in here :-) (...) I agree completely. (...) The tiers are more a guide to the GM and SMs, and other players. The propulsion tiers impact on galactic movement, but not much on in-sector movement (GM monitors and administers) (...) (21 years ago, 30-May-03, to lugnet.gaming.starship)

(...) Oooh! A thread with colors, and HEY! .starship has over 100 posts now! :) Oh, and Lindsay, as for lack of brick, ABS-related CAD are allowed.          (...) Yes indeed, the very self-same. Unfortunately, the ship and the bricks are in two locales right now, one 7000 miles from me, and one 8000. So no brick in hand, sadly. I'm working something up, though. :D LFB (21 years ago, 30-May-03, to lugnet.gaming.starship)
