I think I suggested it before: have each newsgroup do a
puzzle.  Once a week a new newsgroup has it's puzzle displayed, and every
(50? 60?) weeks the list starts over again, meaning each newsgroup only
needs to do it once a year on average.  It would also promote people to
"de-lurk" and to become more involved with Lugnet.  Once again, thanks for
all three great puzzles!

While I like the idea you've suggested, I'm still a bit wary of narrowing down
the wordlists for any particular puzzle. First because it would make it more
difficult to fill the grids (we're teetering on the edge now), and secondly
because I fear that people may not wish to attempt a puzzle outside their area
of interest. For example, I'm a townie who would feel a bit intimidated by a
robotics puzzle.

I've been thinking of something in your direction though. What if people
submitted words with clues in the "flavor" of their fav newsgroup. Then, when I
make a puzzle, I could take one group's submissions and add them into the puzzle
as best I can (without excluding other groups). Their work could be identified
by color coding (or something similar) and they be given credit for their work.

Along those lines, maybe a LUG would gather clues from their members for a
featured puzzle of their own.

One thing for sure, I'd love to rcv words and clues, or even just words, for
addition into the crossword puzzle maker's database. The software is amazingly
complex. It's designed for a person to use it over and over, making it easier as
they go. Plus! it can make many other types of word puzzles. Some look like a
lot of fun (shaped puzzles, picture clues, anagrams, etc.)

I bought the Professional version and additional word lists.

I hope we talk more about such ideas. feedback=good
Thanks.

(...) Thanks for the cool puzzle! It was trickier than previous ones, and while I won't spoil it for anyone reading this, I wish it had more Space refereces (SW doesn't count). I think I suggested it before: have each newsgroup do a puzzle. Once a (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jan-01, to lugnet.fun)
