  Re: FAQ data format possibilities

(...) Please see my comment regarding an index file title.en.faq : (URL) actual name of the file is unimportant.) You could then have title.fr.faq , title.es.faq , etc. (I think I now prefer "index" over "title" in the filename.) (...) It's funny (...) (26 years ago, 23-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

What does the 'ob' mean? Thanks! John (26 years ago, 23-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: FAQ data format possibilities

(...) I've got a mechanism for this for the ng names so that, for example, "sf" is displayed as "San Francisco" -- but it isn't internationalized yet. Not sure how to handle subcategory names in the FAQ for virtual subcategories that don't yet (...) (26 years ago, 23-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

Working sketch of FAQ item data format

(Originally in another thread. I gave it its own thread to make finding it and building upon it easier.) Here's a working sketch of the FAQ data format; in quasi-XML, to separate the files. <FILE NAME="file: /faq/lugnet/market/a...1.en.faq"> Refer: (...) (26 years ago, 23-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: Format of FAQ items

(...) You've convinced me otherwise now. Mea culpa. :-, (...) I think it would take in the whole sub-FAQ. This is (currently) my strategy for giving localized names to the different categories. Someone looking for starter questions could probably (...) (26 years ago, 23-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: Format of FAQ items

(...) How come? For specifying the ordering? For ease of editing? What about translations? Maintenance? Bookmarking? Grepping? (...) Something analogous to #include in C then? Would that slurp in an entire sub-FAQ? Or only relevant (...) (26 years ago, 23-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: FAQ data format possibilities

Todd, I read your post just after I put up my own. Ships in the night. :-P (...) 'Kay, I hadn't thought of that. I like it; the only real drawback I can see to this is how to phrase the category titles; e.g. translating: (...) (26 years ago, 23-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: FAQ data format possibilities

(...) Whoops, I forgot to list <UL>/<OL>/<LI> and <DL>/<DT>/<DD> -- gotta have those! Now this is getting into nesting... :) There are some good Perl5 modules that already exist for doing all of this (the HTML->text conversion, not the FAQing). (...) (26 years ago, 23-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

  Format of FAQ items

Todd, I'm geared to start snarfing the RTL Auction & Shipping FAQ, to start giving form to the LUGNET FAQ. (LUGFAQ? :-) I am torn between two data formats, though it should be relatively easy to switch from one to the other. I think that whatever (...) (26 years ago, 23-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

  FAQ data format possibilities

(...) Separate files would make it even easier to parse. Also easier for editing, maintenance, and division of labor. Plenty simple to organize the individual translations using ISO 639 suffixes too, just like webpages, because then you can 'grep' (...) (26 years ago, 23-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

Re: I'll volunteer for the LEGO FAQ

(...) :-{ <) :-) (...) I BC'd him in the post where I volunteered, so if that e-mail address is still being read, he'll see it too. (...) That works great for me. I won't be able to put a long-term commitment into the FAQ, just a few months or so. (...) (26 years ago, 23-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

Re: I'll volunteer for the LEGO FAQ

(...) Also: Subcategory: [subcategory depth 1] Subcategory: [subcategory depth 2] etc. Plus, some kind of tags at the beginning and ending of each FAQ entry would make parsing it much easier IMO. e.g. (1): <FAQENTRY> Newsgroups: lugnet.market.* (...) (26 years ago, 23-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

Re: I'll volunteer for the LEGO FAQ

(...) Thanks for starting the ball rolling again, Greg! (...) That's what we need most right now. :) Anything you can do to help would be appreciated by all. But don't work in a cave. :) Stay in touch, rub shoulders, flood the group (this FAQ group) (...) (26 years ago, 23-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

I'll volunteer for the LEGO FAQ

(...) Sure, I'm up for the challenge, at least to get it off the ground. I'm seriously psyched on this, I can put the time into it right now, and I think it'd be loads of fun. Also, I learned a lot about how to and how *not* to build one with the (...) (26 years ago, 23-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

Re: When, oh when, will we see an actual FAQ?

Beaker was working on one, but he changed jobs or something and could no longer spend the time. It was suggested that he post what he had done here and we could all work on it together. Want to take the challenge? If you have some material, post it (...) (26 years ago, 23-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: [ldraw.org] Status/Help Needed

Tim: (...) I have suggested that the LDraw FAQ is incorporated in the planned Lugnet FAQ database. If I understood the ideas presented in lugnet.faq correctly we should be able to extract and format the LDraw FAQ automatically. I will look into (...)   Re: When, oh when, will we see an actual FAQ?

Jeremy: (...) If there are, I would like to offer that the content of the LDraw FAQ can be included. I hope we will end up with a format that will allow us to extract topic specific FAQ's from the GLF[1]. Play well, Jacob 1) GLF = Grand Lugnet FAQ (...) (26 years ago, 22-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

When, oh when, will we see an actual FAQ?

Hey Todd, FAQ Maintainer, anyone working on the FAQ, What's the status of this FAQ? It is mythical, or has it achieved a life of its own yet? Is there anyone working on it? Cheers, - jsproat (26 years ago, 21-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq, lugnet.admin.general)
