  Re: BrickWorld 2007 - who's getting paid?

(...) To be clear, I was commenting generally on the discussion, not really in reference specifically to any details of this incident. I found the parallels between this current discussion and the other discussions I was having with separate (...) (19 years ago, 21-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickworld)

  Re: BrickWorld 2007 - who's getting paid?

(...) I know I'm a little late to this discussion, but here I am. :) It's funny to be reading this discussion this week, as I was just discussing the same thread about a different subject last week. I've been doing quite a bit of conference speaking (...) (19 years ago, 20-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickworld, FTX) !

  Re: BrickWorld 2007 - who's getting paid?

(...) John, I agree with most of your comments and I appreciate your keeping the other side of this arguement. I would like to point out that I feel that a NPO is different than a private company. WalMart is a private company that is not required to (...) (19 years ago, 19-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickworld, FTX)

  Re: BrickWorld 2007 - who's getting paid?

Bryan, Thank you for your post and informing the community of the intentions of your organization of BrickWorld 07. I have interspersed some comments among your points. Please read them carefully and in a positive frame of mind. They are not (...) (19 years ago, 19-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickworld, FTX)

  Re: BrickWorld 2007 - who's getting paid?

(...) I don't think making money from an AFOL event is tantamount to "screwing us hobbyists" - but I also don't think it's right to make money from an event without telling volunteers and attendees what their time, effort, and money is going (...)   Re: What was the question?

(...) The question was: who, if anyone, will be profiting from this event. I started with the assumption that no one would be profiting, since I was going by David's message. After reading Bryan's email, I thought he was saying that he and Adam (...) (19 years ago, 18-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickworld, FTX)

I'm with Steve H on this one--the clips you yourself have taken and compiled into your post are not contradictory and they do lay out, at least in my mind, what's going to happen with (...)   Re: BrickWorld 2007 - who's getting paid?

Bryan has contacted me privately and assured me that both his statement below, and David Gregory's previous statement about nobody making money, are truthful and accurate. As these are unambiguous statements, this clears up the whole issue for me in (...) (19 years ago, 17-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickworld)

  Re: BrickWorld 2007 - who's getting paid?

(...) Really? I have just finished reading every post in this group and could not find a place where the organizers have said this. If it was said somewhere else, then it probably should be repeated here for those of us who do not read every post on (...) (19 years ago, 17-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickworld)

  What was the question?

(...) ... (...) Marc, From all the examples you listed, it appears several people have tried to answer your questions. Wouldn't you agree? Personally, I don't understand what you think they are trying to hide. If you want to assume people that run (...) (19 years ago, 17-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickworld, FTX) !

  Re: BrickWorld 2007 - who's getting paid?

(...) It has also been answered several ways: 1. (URL): You also asked about money. Bryan and Adam are assuming the financial risk (and its large) for the event. And, while the event is not being created to make money there is the possibility that (...) (19 years ago, 17-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickworld, FTX)

  Re: BrickWorld 2007 - who's getting paid?

Please refer to the most recent reference to the answer: (URL) We hope you can all find a way to be part of Brickworld. (...) (19 years ago, 17-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickworld, FTX)

  Re: BrickWorld 2007 - who's getting paid?

The organizers have said more than once that any "extra" money will be used to make future events better. They have a (...) (19 years ago, 17-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickworld)

  Re: BrickWorld 2007 - who's getting paid?

This seems like a simple question. Why is it not answered? Tim is always negative,no matter what. Besides who really cares, someone should just answer the question without getting into philosophy. John P (19 years ago, 17-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickworld, FTX)

  Re: BrickWorld 2007 - who's getting paid?

I think that this sort of information is VERY important when an event is soliciting the public for volunteers, especially if they are actually expecting people to volunteer their time and effort.
