Re: Brickfest 2003 Question and Answer

(...) Enough to make it worth while creating a set like this... I guess? (...) Which is why I wondered if adult builders would want it. Perhaps it's aimed more directly at pure Star Wars fans than previous sets from this series? Contrasted with the (...) (23 years ago, 10-Aug-03, to lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.starwars, FTX)

  Re: Saturday General Session Announcements

(...) I'm in total agree ment there. I've already started preliminary plans using the connections I could reach on a Sunday. I'll expect better responses tomorrow. (...) How about September 6th? It's good to see someone is giving a thumbs up to my idea :-) It's also good to see this topic starting getting some attention. Let's go back in history to when the BW idea (...)   Re: More vending at BF: now with 2-inch capsules!!

(...) Can anyone share some news about what's in the vending machine plastic capsules? Is there a variety of items or do they all have the same contents? I could sure use a bunch of LUGNET mini-fig logo stickers for a MOC I'm building! (23 years ago, 10-Aug-03, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

  Re: Saturday General Session Announcements

<snip> Why Portland???? What possible draw is Portland???? To me the draw of BW was LLCA!! I'm not one of those 'same old, same old', but I can understand that feeling. To be fair, another draw IS the store/being able to buy sets there as well as (...) (23 years ago, 10-Aug-03, to lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.events.brickswest, lugnet.org.ca.nalug)

Re: Brickfest 2003 Question and Answer

(...) I have to assume that you aren't fully aware of how many adult SW collectors are totally accustomed to having to use their credit cards online just to keep up with the Hasbro stuff. I seriously doubt they'll have any trouble moving enough (...) (23 years ago, 10-Aug-03, to lugnet.events.brickfest, FTX)

  BrickFest Portland 2004

Hi... I just talked to Steve (and others) about this topic. He realises that there are a lot of open questions and valid concerns, and would like to apologise for not having been able to answer them all at the same time that the announcement was (...)   BW04? (Re: Saturday General Session Announcements)

(...) Exactly. Look PD - you know less than we do here. You do not know the history here. You have 0 intrest in this, so why are you trying to stir the pot? You made incorrect statments in your post, thats because you do not know the history here. I (...) (23 years ago, 10-Aug-03, to lugnet.events.brickswest)

Re: Brickfest 2003 Question and Answer

(...) Which still doesn't really answer the question of who's going to buy it, only by which arm of their distribution network it's being sold on. The question I still have is, "will adults buy this 'play set' for $100?" Or, will they only see it as (...) (23 years ago, 10-Aug-03, to lugnet.events.brickfest, FTX)

  Re: Saturday General Session Announcements

(...) Fair enough. Though that wasn't what was presented to us yesterday, but fine, we'll go with your analysis for now. (...) Partly true. What I see is a group of people trying to put together an event more than 1000 miles away on the same weekend (...) (23 years ago, 10-Aug-03, to lugnet.events.brickswest, lugnet.events.brickfest)

Re: BW04? (Re: Saturday General Session Announcements)

I'd really like to hear more from folks that aren't in Southern Cal, Northern Cal or the NW as to what they are looking for in attending a brick con. So far, it's mainly us westcoasters that have been commenting about why it should or shouldn't be (...) (23 years ago, 10-Aug-03, to lugnet.events.brickswest)

Re: BrickFest mention on CBS radio in NorCal

(...) The Bay Area ABC radio affiliate picked up on it too. In addition to mentioning the "cathedrals to robots", they talked to AF'sOL who admitted spending upwards of $10,000 a year on LEGO. Hmm, that could be any of several people.... :-) Maggie (...) (23 years ago, 10-Aug-03, to lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.mediawatch, lugnet.loc.us.ca.sf)

Re: BW04? (Re: Saturday General Session Announcements)

(...) It's partly that, Dan. Do you remember how great it was to have the public viewing at 2003 where all the younger builders and their parents flocked around you to ask 'How do you do that?'
