Re: The Wanderer, an online image-novella.

(...) Mean, perhaps… Constructive, no… Funny, VERY!!! Fine, t’was a bit far. But his childish “I'm gonna shoot myself” routine was just transparent. P.S. What color is Kurk Cobain’s eyes… one blew right the other blew left! (Infer BLUE for (...) (23 years ago, 15-Aug-01, to lugnet.castle.org.cw, lugnet.castle.ninja)

Re: The Wanderer, an online image-novella.

(...) You may not have liked Bryan's original post (neither did I: see (URL) ), but this comment was of a degree more despicable than anything he wrote. If you cannot be constructive in your criticism, I recommend keeping your peace. Alan (23 years ago, 15-Aug-01, to lugnet.castle.org.cw, lugnet.castle.ninja)

Re: The Wanderer, an online image-novella.

Why do you need to attack the individual? You said, “you suck” about the creator of the Wanderer! Can’t you differentiate between a ‘story’ and a ‘person’? Perhaps the story did suck, but that doesn’t entitle you to insult the creator. P.S. why (...) (23 years ago, 14-Aug-01, to lugnet.castle.org.cw, lugnet.castle.ninja)

Re: Japanese Sashimono (battle flags) + Ninja Chess Upgrade

Sekigahara in Lego! That is my ultimate ambition, but at this rate I wont be able to do it till the 500th aniversary of the ballte (99 years from now). If you liked Bryant's Sekigara book, pick up the other Osprey titles by him and by Turnbull or (...) (23 years ago, 14-Aug-01, to lugnet.castle.ninja)

  Re: Ninja Dojo

Nice contrast in the walls, good use of open spaces from what I can see and I really like the gardening. My only suggestions would be that the "floor" should be a dark color rather than the same grey as the baseplates. Chris Barker (...) (23 years ago, 14-Aug-01, to lugnet.castle.ninja)

Re: The Wanderer, an online image-novella.

Bryan, Sensible comments. I'm not the writer of the story but I do have an opinion. Replies below: (...) This is an accepted method of storytelling. I'm sure there is even a term for it, but I don't know what it is. By bringing a reader/viewer into (...) (23 years ago, 14-Aug-01, to lugnet.castle.org.cw, lugnet.castle.ninja)

  GFLTC at GATS 2001 Orlando

The Greater Florida Lego Train Club appeared at the GATS 2001 in Orlando Aug 11 and 12. Due to time constraints on most club members, this was a "one-man" show (Robin) with a little assist from me (KK). So heaps of credit to be given to Robin for (...)   Re: Japanese Sashimono (battle flags) + Ninja Chess Upgrade

(...) Joel, That is a great suggestion !! I had thought of making a very large microfig battlefield but even having 1 minifg to represent every 1000, that's a total of 170 minifigs. Ouch ! But with the super microfig scale and doing diorama scenes, (...) (23 years ago, 9-Aug-01, to lugnet.castle.ninja)

Re: Japanese Sashimono (battle flags) + Ninja Chess Upgrade

(...) Here is my sugestion. Do the battle in super microfig scale, using 1x2, 1x4, 1x6 tiles or plates to represent each side. The book should have pictures of the terrain so model that out on a couple of baseplates. We called them sandboxes in the (...) (23 years ago, 9-Aug-01, to lugnet.castle.ninja)

Japanese Sashimono (battle flags) + Ninja Chess Upgrade

After getting some really nice reference books with "kamon" (clan symbols), some scanning and fiddling with Avery labels, I was able to produce my own "sashimono" which are battle flags worn by ashigaru (common soldiers) on their backs and horsemen (...)   Re: New MOC: Motorized Viking Longship

(...) Cool. Thanks muchly for the additional clarity. Mechanisms that impart life to still dioramas are always interesting and neato! ++Lar (23 years ago, 4-Aug-01, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.castle.ninja)

Re: New MOC: Motorized Viking Longship

(...) I've added another couple of images to the page that show the gear mechanism that drives the cams. Basically, the motor outputs to an 8 tooth gear, which goes to a 24 tooth gear for speed gearing. In the base of the gearbox are 3 12 tooth (...)   Re: New MOC: Motorized Viking Longship

(...) I would have to tear apart the decking to do that. I should've thought ahead and taken pictures while I was building. I'll try to get a chance to tear apart the decking a bit to show the gear mechanisms though. Adrian (23 years ago, 4-Aug-01, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.castle.ninja)

Re: New MOC: Motorized Viking Longship

(...) Not exactly. The two terms are not really interchangeable; they were separated by a few hundred miles and several centuries. The Viking "conquerors" in England were called Danes (thus the term "Danelaw"); "Normans" was really reserved for (...) (23 years ago, 4-Aug-01, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.castle.ninja)

Re: New MOC: Motorized Viking Longship

(...) Just want to point out that the classic "flared" and "bullet" helms are Norman helms with chain coifs, and the Normans were what the Anglo-Saxons called the Viking conquerors. :) So you *can* make Vikings. :) Jeff (23 years ago, 4-Aug-01, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.castle.ninja)
