  Re: More custom castle helms

(...) Variety is the spice of life - they all look good. The breathing holes add a little something. I like the Barbute, though I don't recall them having the heavy central ridge. I gotta go get some Sculpy. :-) Bruce (24 years ago, 20-Feb-01, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: More custom castle helms

Ok, I hate to jump the "how-to" gun, but how did you make these? You mentioned the oven, so I'm assuming Fimo? Now that I think about it, as long as you have a good "master" you can cast lots in resin with a RTV (room-temperature-vulcanizing rubber) (...) (24 years ago, 20-Feb-01, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: More custom castle helms

Wow, those are all sweet. I like #3 and #5 with "breathing holes". (24 years ago, 20-Feb-01, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: More custom castle helms

(...) Ok, I'll bite... I like the two on the extreme left, but my favorite one is the one that is second from the right. It would look perfectly at home as a step between the one-piece helmets and the visored helm (which does have indentations as (...) (24 years ago, 20-Feb-01, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: More custom castle helms

Sorry for the addendum to my own post. Thanks to those who provided me with cast molding info. Unfortunately, this is not my area of expertise. If someone with the experience of cast molding is willing to step up and evaluate my custom helms to see (...) (24 years ago, 20-Feb-01, to lugnet.castle)

  More custom castle helms

Well, I think I've been getting better. Not sure if you remember my first two attempts at custom castle helms: (URL) is the latest: (URL) are just variations of the traditional Great Helm....with the exception of the Barbute helmet on the very end.   Re: Book I of the Hillsfar Chronicles: A Friend Returns

Wow, that is cool man! You managed to tell a great story without the use of much violence, which I tend to base my stories around. I really didn't notice too many of the blurry pics in the story and all the shots were well-taken. I liked all the (...) (24 years ago, 19-Feb-01, to lugnet.castle.org, lugnet.castle)

Re: Book I of the Hillsfar Chronicles: A Friend Returns

CW Map (was Re: Lego Castle - the complete world)

Re: Lego Castle - the complete world

As a follow up to my own previous posting, what Roger Wilson was inquiring about appears to have nothing to do with "Castle World" in the manner that I know it.   Re: Castle

Hi Alan, I like it! I personally prefer to use regular bricks for the majority of my structures as opposed to the pre-formed castle wall pieces, so I REALLY like this castle. :-) Also, I like that you were able to make the inside of the "keep" (...) (24 years ago, 17-Feb-01, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Elephant (Hannibal crossing Alps on Triceratops?)

(...) Thanks! A neat thing about the tail that you can't tell from the pictures is that it is mounted on a technic half-peg so it can swing back and forth.   Re: Custom Helmets

Funny you should mention this! This is my (other) toy-related hobby. I use RTV rubber molds to make parts for custom action figures. I tried it once with the maiden's headdress and was able to make a pour-mold that made a passable replica. Of (...) (24 years ago, 17-Feb-01, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Custom Helmets

I've never cast anything myself, but I am aware that their is a number of options for making casting molds at home in a process called 'room temperature vulcanization.' It's very common in modeling, especially with military modelers. I know of one (...) (24 years ago, 16-Feb-01, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Custom Helmets

(...) Brief How-to. These helmets were quite simple to make, actually. 1) roll your sculpy into a cylinder-shaped clump. Make sure it is wider than a minifig head. Be sure it is well packed together. 2) Bake in an oven for 20-25 min at 275 degrees (...) (24 years ago, 16-Feb-01, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Custom Helmets
