Hang in there...
Although my situation wasn't as bad as your situation, my parents didn't really
care for me to start building...and in some cases, playing with Lego. I entered
a small dark-age a few years ago, threw my Lego into plastic bins, and pushed
them into the closet, only to collect dust for a few years. Then, one day I got
bored and took them out, and the whole "what would this look like if it were
built with Legos..." question popped into my head. Now I currently have
thousands of assorted pieces gracing my bedroom floor, and in some cases, my bed
itself. Occasionally, I get the "clean up that mess", or "I'll throw them into
the garbage", but I know my parents don't really mean it. (I hope not).
What I'm trying to say is, if it makes you happy to play with Lego, then do it.
I was expecting my girlfriend to laugh at me when I told her that I still
collect *cough* play with *cough* Legos, but she actually thinks it's kind of
cute. *wink wink* I know my parents don't think it's cute (I hope they don't),
but I convinced them to support it, and now they're fine with it. All you need
to do is talk to them, show them what other people make, and that the hobby is
not just for kids.
