Well, role-playing is basically what this story idea would be, since each
person would be posting as a "role" they are "playing". The only difference
between role playing and a role playing game is that if two of the guys in
here get into a swordfight over you, the role playing game would have some
statistics that affect the outcome of the swordfight. (ie. The big chrome
sword is better than the smaller grey one) On the other hand, if it's just a
role playing story kind of thing, if two guys get into a swordfight over
you, whoever writes that they won the swordfight wins the swordfight. (ie.
"I stab bricklord in the head and win the fight yay!") That can get very
abused, but if the role playing has no conflict or elements of chance, then
there is no need for any rules or stats.
I know it's not too relevant, but maybe that will help you understand what
RPGs are. I can go into this further if you would like. Also, I believe
.castle visitors are naturally inclined to be interested in RPGs, since most
role-playing games are fantasy themed so it fits in well with Castle LEGO.
In fact, my role-playing game hobby is the reason I kept all my 80s castle
stuff during the time when I sold most of my other LEGO.
Anyway, enough of that.

I think it's a great idea for another place. Typically on forums I've used,
there would be a seperate section for open ended role playing stories
because they tend to get very big if they catch on. (They also tend to take
place in taverns.) Anyway, I do not think it belongs in here. Honestly, when
I come to .castle, I expect to see something about Castle LEGO, whether it
be ideas for the Medieval Marketplace, MOC pictures, news of relevant bulk
packs (like the castle accessories pack), links to Castle LEGO related
websites, etc. I think putting some story to go with a posted MOC is fine
too, but like the game rules topic, this topic could overwhelm the actual
LEGO-related postings and dillute .castle.
