  Re: "Illusions"

(...) I was trying to make the flame pieces a little more transparent. I thought there were a little too "strong." It was just a little overbearing. I've used rgbt to great success before with the (URL) Town Square Fountain>, so I thought I'd try it (...) (21 years ago, 2-Mar-04, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  Re: "Illusions"

(...) That is pretty cool looking, in a somewhat indefinable way. (...) Can we at least ask you what you were trying to do? Which part of it were you not expecting to happen? (21 years ago, 2-Mar-04, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  Re: "Illusions"

(...) No, I was editing the properties of the transparent color using Transmit. The only code I changed was for Color57, here: #ifndef (Color57) #declare Color57 = #if (version >= 3.1) material { #end texture { pigment { [rgbt < 1,0.4,0,.8 >] #if (...) (21 years ago, 2-Mar-04, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: "Illusions"

(...) Can you upload the pov-file? I'm sure the answer is hidden in there :) I think that you have used the "looks like" option of a light. I had always problems with that option and got nearly similar results. (21 years ago, 2-Mar-04, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  "Illusions"

A problem in a POV file resulted in a very unique and interesting, perhaps even beautiful? picture. (URL) I have an 800x600 version (URL) here>, and email me if you want the 1024x768 BMP. Don't ask me what I did; I don't understand why it happened (...) (21 years ago, 2-Mar-04, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  Re: Animation using Datsville

(...) The concept is 4 years old. The newest version of Datsville I could find is less than a month old: (URL) How did you make your animation? I moved the camera along a spline curve. This technique is really useful once you learn how to do it (the (...) (21 years ago, 29-Feb-04, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: Animation using Datsville

(...) I have thought of using Datsville also. (URL) to be 4 years old. Is that right? How did you make your animation? Isn't there suppose to be issues rendering Datsville because of the size? Or is that 4 year old technology problems... ;) James (21 years ago, 29-Feb-04, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: Annoying Reflections

(...) No problem (...) Too late, check your Email (21 years ago, 29-Feb-04, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  Re: Annoying Reflections

(...) That explains a lot. Thanks. I tried Todd's normals suggestion and it worked pretty well. I needed some texture anyway. (snip) Miguel also sent me the latest file (I see he's posted it as well) so perhaps on Monday or Tuesday I can finish up (...) (21 years ago, 28-Feb-04, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  Animation using Datsville

All the recent animation work has prompted me to start my Drive Through Datsville project. Here's a sample I whipped up this morning: (URL) (1.5MB) You need the DivX codec which can be found at (URL) if you don't have it (click on the Standard DivX (...)   Re: Annoying Reflections

(...) Your problem is that the Radiosity include uses it's own color library (unless you'rs using Color Library option 0). There are 2 solutions, one easy and one tedious. The easy solution is to use Color Library option 0. This will have POV-Ray (...) (21 years ago, 28-Feb-04, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: Annoying Reflections

(...) Thanks Todd. I never thought of using normals to diffuse reflections. Actually, some turbulence normals might look good on the brown, since it's supposed to be dirt. (...) Already using that. :( (...) I tried that with the last MLCAD scene but (...) (21 years ago, 28-Feb-04, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  Re: Annoying Reflections

(...) 2 options (apart from Todd's suggestion): 1. Turn the QUAL value to 1 (first uncommented line on any L3P-generated file) QUAL 2 simply(?) *adds reflections* to parts, while QUAL 3 adds reflections and Lego logos to their studs 2. Look in the (...) (21 years ago, 28-Feb-04, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: Annoying Reflections

(...) You might try setting normal bumps .25 scale .1 turbulence 0 or variations of that in the texture block. --Todd (21 years ago, 28-Feb-04, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  Annoying Reflections

Hello all, It's 12:32am right this minute, so this is going to be very short. My bedtime was a looong time ago. But the last thirty minutes have been well-spent: I've redesigned an MLCAD scene and it looks much, much better. Except for one thing. It (...) (21 years ago, 28-Feb-04, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  Three Jake McKee posters

Hi all, You maybe know about the book Jake wrote. There are 3 posters of models featured in the book; a UP diesel locomotive, a container well car and a reefer. The posters are in the style of the book. Please go to www.digitalbricks.nl and have a (...) (21 years ago, 23-Feb-04, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad.ray)

  8818 Povray Animations

Hi! The following two animations are my first steps on the field of Lego/POV-Ray Animation. I used only POV-Ray and MLCaD, all the animations were calculated by the clock. The rendering of the second animation took 10 hours, cause I used radiosity (...) (21 years ago, 21-Feb-04, to lugnet.animation, lugnet.cad.ray)

  what next?...

OK, I finally figured out how to get POVRAY to generate all the snapshots ("frames") for an animated sequence. Unfortunately, I don't have any software tools to take these images and combine them into a GIF, PNG, or MPEG. What do I need to download (...)
